QANTAS B787-9 QF10 Economy Class - London Heathrow to Perth Australia, 17 Hour Non-Stop Flight (4K)

After some time in Finland & Latvia it was time to head home, so after a Finnair flight from Helsinki to London, it was time for the long long non stop flight from London Heathrow to Perth, Australia (then another flight to Sydney).

LHR Terminal 3 was very busy, which is expected in the months leading up to Christmas. Prior to boarding the flight, there was enough time to relax in the Qantas London Lounge and have a quick brunch... Egg Benedict and Salt & Pepper Squid... who says you can't combine Breakfast and Lunch...

Boarding was on time, and my seat of choice was 59A at the back of the Economy cabin.

Then it was lights out and time to get some sleep...

Mid-Flight snack was Chicken & Mushroom Pies, Cheese & Crackers and various other items.

Then time for some more sleep before the lights were turned back on and breakfast was served. As per usual I opted for the Fruit Salad (after sitting for so long, the thought of a hot breakfast of eggs, bacon, beans, sausages etc is a little too much).

Prior to arrival into Perth, the flight was put into a holding pattern which meant our arrival time was 15-20 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.

17hrs was tolerable, but I would be lying if I didn't say the future London to Sydney flights taking 20hrs+ does scare me a little.

Overall a great flight, and the crew were fantastic.

I'm 86 & along with my eldest daughter experienced this flight during September, returned October. Visited my eldest son who resides in Perth & big surprise as he married his Australian lady whilst we were there. What you see is what you get & I highly recommend this Qantas service. Perth ?, lovely atmosphere. My son had a great mixture lined up, included Rottnest Island, where the Quoka's will welcome you, The Pinnacles, & that's something else. Even got to dine at the Opus Stadium & view some of W A v Queensland, one day affair at the WACA.
Swan River terrific & if you ever go there, don't miss a visit to Tomato Lake & the Whipper Snapper Distillery. Wish they had a branch in 'Blighty', Wicked stuff, Does you the world of good. A little of what you fancy, mate.
Australia ? don't miss it, if the Perth area is an example. You'll regret it the rest of your life.
I'd go back like a shot, will I. Well who knows but Mark's old Oz cat, Mickey, he's worth a glimpse. He's a good old boy.
Good on yer Qantas. Super experience.

My salute to those who can tolerate that many hrs cooped up with a bunch of strangers. A 7 hr flight is my maximum flight length that I can tolerate.

This was excellent. Ignore any criticism. A great insight into the long haul without unnecessary faffing around. I hate when I'm taken into the loo.

It's amazing that you can fly all that way in one go.

17 hours in a 787 dream liner and they didn't have to stop half way to speed tape the delaminated wings up! 😂 The food looked pretty good, Liked and subbed.

I live in London, and I'm currently saving money for a month long road trip in Western Australia. This video gave me a great glimpse into what I can expect on the way there. Many thanks. The view of the WA coastline looks beautiful. 🙂

It's amazing on how far aviation has come, to think leaving the UK and in 17 hours later you have flown half way across the world, could I do this, no way I would get so fidgety and board. But still a remarkable achievement and of courses is the 787.

My wife and I just returned from Australia. Flew from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi, 14-1/2 hours, short stop, then 7-1/2 to Manchester in 787-10 Etihad. The good thing for me the entire flight was overnight, so was able to sleep pretty good. But what a journey😮

I've just done Heathrow to Perth with Cathay via Hong Kong. The 14 hr leg coming home destroyed me even with an extra leg room seat. But the thought of get on and get off with no stops is really appealling

We used to do Dubai Perth, Singapore Perth, 5 times, until we did QF 10, it’s great time saver, we live in Birmingham, so it’s no bother going to LHR. Doing QF 10 again this November, to see our children and grand children. Happy New Year.

17 hrs in economy. You need a medal. I used to fly regularly, nine hours plus LHR / PHX Arizona, cattle class on BA's old 747's. Scuffed carpets, often at least one toilet US, always a wonky spring or a lump in the seat. The last hour of the flight was purgatory. I occasionally got an upgrade to business, because I was iin the business. To lay down and sleep was sheer luxury.

Nice video, no awful music. You chose great seats and no one next to you was a massive bonus in economy. Food looked fine. 😊such an enormous distance

We did this flight last year and would do it again happily if the price hadn’t gone up so much in 12 months! We go out to Aus every year to visit my daughter and the “17 hour smash it out in one go flight” means not having to faff about with either a rushed panicking connecting flight in Dubai, Qatar or Doha or a lengthy lay over in Singapore of HK. We fly Jan 9th via Singapore and managed to get that flight £600 per person cheaper than the direct flight. That difference in price is the cost of all out accommodation in Australia and the hire car.
