That reminds me when my wife and I were in Japan and she was pregnant and not feeling well. We went to the hospital in an ambulance, she saw a doctor but we were released within a few hours. As an American I was expecting a bill similar to your friend. How much was it? About $350. I was shocked.

Jeez man. 6k for eye drops. I do hate that about the USA. He could have flown him and his daughter to another country and bought the eyedrops in bulk without a perscription or that. To me the rules on having to have a prescription for non addictive meds you are already familiar with and need is kind of an uncivilized racket.
