Description: Since the beginning of time, humans committed murder; a horrible act which ends another's life. However, some have done it so much they've become infamous & known as serial killers. From Jeffrey Dahmer to Jack the Ripper, serial killers have morbidly fascinated us since at least the 18th century. In this video however, we explore the lesser known serial killers of the Balkans from Serbia, Romania, Hungary, and Slovenia in our part 1 series.

Imagine being so incompetent that the killer actually drops hints for the police to capture him, and they ignore every call.

Thank you for being one of the very few content creators that doesn't baby-speak words like murder or suicide. You've made me decide not to un-alive myself

You have forgotten about Vlado Taneski, a serial killer in Macedonia who, as a journalist, killed to have something to write about in the newspaper.

My mom had an encounter with Metod Trobec when she was 17. She lived in a neighbouring valley to where he resided. She often would opt for hitchhiking instead of waiting for the bus. She was picked up by him and drove with his car a very short distance, about five minutes, when he told her to wait in the car and said that he needed to pick something up. While she was alone she had a very strange feeling and decided to leave the car and walk home, which by car is 20 minutes, but on foot it takes about 4 hours because of the terrain. Then eventually, my mom saw him again when she went with family to a gathering in one of the local restaurants. She pointed him out to my grandfather and told him she hitched a ride from him and he told her to never get into any contact with him again, that some women have gone missing in his proximity. Even back then when nothing was necessarily proven, people were very weary of him. My mom never again hitchhiked in her life, and she honestly instilled big fear of it in me too. It’s just wild to think that my mom could have been a victim of one of his murders. This story quite literally made me decide to never hitchhike anywhere in my life.

> "Most notorious serial killer of Hungary"
> Does not mention Kiss Béla
> The guy who "pickled" multiple murdered women in his backyard in fuel barrels
> Who was never caught after disappearing during his service in WW1, suspected to have fled to the USA

Trobec was lucky with his appeal as it delayed the process until Yugoslavia outlawed the death penalty, so it was changed to 20 years in prison. Every time he was close to finishing his prison sentence, he was moved from solitary confinement to general confinement, as he couldn't help himself not to attack other people, so they could prosecute him for another assault/attempted murder and keep him inside through new prison sentence.
