they've been in Georgia for many many years. we have them in Southern Indiana, I caught and killed one earlier this year

Animals have some intel but they are not smarter than man. Next time put him in a sack. Weigh him and minus the weight of the sack. As far as getting rid of them, Just tell other fishermen how good they taste.
