Tip from a full time nomad of 7 years: Always go inside & ask the manager if it o.k. to stay overnight at that location. Next question ask manager where would you like me to park in your lot? this will avoid being towed.

Walmart used to be one of the most friendly spots. People who dont reapect laying low while sleeping there ruined it for everyone else, especially for solo female campers who NEED the safety to survive. Keep those unruly fellow campers in check and remind them of this. A Walmart parking lot is not a national park. If they want campfires, barbecues, outhouses, loud behaviour or running around, move on to where they can do that. If not, adapt and respect. Generations with entitlement issues, tone deaf, myopic, lack of context, me-mentality: LONG PAST TIME to grow up and sober up!

You can call ahead to Walmart that you think you would be sleeping at. But call before early, because a lot of them don’t answer the phone in the evenings and night. This is a good practice on the east coast. I drive a truck for Walmart and although we can sleep At almost everyone, there are some that don’t allow us or some that are safe to layover. Safe travels

I stayed at 24 hr laundromats on the east coast. I washed a load and left it in the dryer until the morning….because I fell asleep of course. 😜

Here's one for you since you're by yourself maybe wear a wedding ring. She says that attracts less attention to her. I remember seeing a video where one of the "family" vanlifers got pissy because they had to leave Walmart after they set up a FUCKING CAMPFIRE PIT and their kids were running wild in the lot.

A tip...park your vehicle near the semi's that have just delivered merchandise to Walmart. .the driver is as tired as you and just want to go to sleep. The best laces t sleep at are the parking lot around hospitals.

When parking in lots, always park at the back away from the customers. Don't make staying overnight too obvious.

if you get towed in your sleep you can sue the tow truck driver for endangering your life. It's illegal to ride in a towed vehicle, so basically the driver committed several crimes. I'd go as far as to charge them with abduction on top of reckless endangerment.

I was chilling in my van, parked in a quiet neighborhood when out of no where a car crashed a parked car behind me 😳😳. The guy fucked up half of his car and just took off like nothing happened lol

I think what make people the most mad about people sleeping I their cars is the fact so many rude people just trash the area. I was in Yellowstone and had to go to the bathroom and there was no bathroom. But a nice tree. Well it looked like everyone decided to leave their toilet paper and shit without burying and taking their toilet paper with them. If you can bring it in, you take it out and if you do something like poop you pick it up and get rid of it dog poop and dispose of properly or bury it. I mean this was a national park and look like crap.

It took me way too long to realize you’re talking about “Bureau of Land Management” and not “Black Lives Matter” land!

Wouldn't park near the buggy corrals. Employees are always clearing them. Same with the dumpster. It's better to go near the perimeter of the parking lot towards the parking area of a different store so the employees don't know for sure if you are an overnight employee of a different store.
