Yes, please do a glistening oil video and other phyrexian videos. Lore vids are why I originally subbed to this channel, back when you were perp I believe. Great job, keep it up

My first thought when you mentioned Yawgmoth as a Theros God would be his devotion requirement:

Devotion to Phyrexian Mana

God's w/ pherexian Mana.

I started playing during New Phyrexia and fell in love with them as characters and so im super pumped for the idea of Phyrexia invading theros with Ashiok!

It has been a long time since we last saw phyrexians in the main story. Even more so about slivers. But i kinda feel with Nicolas gone now, and eldrazzi being sealed the next big bad left for the next arc is phyrexians

It’s possible, since m15 WotC brought us to all the planes mention in the “soul of” cycle, all but Shandalar and New Phyrexia

What if ashiok fixes their deterioration with phyrexian mechanical parts

I wonder if Ashiok has some connections with the Cabal. The old Cabal had the power to bring there nightmare to life but the Cabal of the future can bring nightmare of other people to life. Also Nightmare creature type are also started from the Cabalist Chainer.

Yawgmoth was MtG's biggest villain? No, I'm pretty sure Urza was the biggest villain, he just had better PR.

The belief theory seems solid enough. However, if they were going to bring a character back into existence, this is how I picture Sheoldred coming back to life.

I feel it’s more likely that we’ll be returning to New Phyrexia or we’ll see Elspeth’s home plane than a Phyrexian invasion of Theros. Either way, Ashiok definitely feels like the next main antagonist. Ashiok feels like he/she is a pre-Mending planeswalker, since their powers took a toll on their body. I presume this is a result that happened during a long period of time. Maybe before the Mending, this wasn’t the case for Ashiok?

Elish Norn is a priest of White Phyrexia, and since belief is literally truth, her religion has substance and threat just by existing.

An interesting concept if Yawgmoth becomes alive and the Theros gods cease to exist would be to represent this by a twist in the devotion mechanic such as Devotion to Phyrexia where the number is equal to the number of times Phyrexian mana shows up in mana costs among your permanents

So great! I can’t wait till we get to go back to phyrexia again. They are a big part of why I got into magic in the first place

I'm not sure Ashiok would actually full out ally with the Phyrexians. Yes, he'd definitely linger at the edge of Phyrexian invasions, much like he did with the war on Ravnica, but I'm thinking that the Phyrexians themselves might be largely or completely immune to the kind of terror that Ashiok feeds on. After all, a machine doesn't feel fear. I think he'd be better off simply making sure they aren't eliminated but don't completely take other either. Maybe use them as an excuse to get the Gatewatch to release Bolas, and basically try to engineer a three way war that results in bigger and bigger horrors (of the figurative sense) being created to try and get an edge. Maybe have it end up resulting in some mega-god nightmare, either Ashiok himself ascending into it or some weird byproduct of all the stuff going on, maybe even have it result in the birth of a new Eldrazi Titan and use it as an opportunity to reintroduce and examine the exact nature of the Eldrazi.

In all fairness, Thero’s based on Greek myths only having what is effectively story fragments in which readers have to parce together much of the story is quite appropriate.

Getting Phyrexians back would be great. Getting Yawgmoth back, now that’s on a whole new level. Though I’d much rather prefer the old school, New Phyrexia would still be cool.
Also I would expect Phyrexians to inavade Kaladesh. Mechanically speaking Phyrexian invasion across the multiverse could be very interesting and very broken. Phyrexian Devotion, Phyrexian Energy, Artifact Horror Planeswalkers. So many bans to be had!

I wonder if Elspeth's spear has different oil abilities. Maybe it would: A) purify the ones who got infected with phyrexian oil; B) create good phyrexians; C) create evil phyrexians D) whatever WOTC has under their sleeves.

I love the idea of creating a new branch of phyrexians, or making theros into a new new phyrexia, plus it gives them an out to get rid of the biggest problem with using phyrexians, the infect mechanic. This new branch could simply evolve differently.
