"I've got skills. I can trade them."

"Sorry, the brothel is full!"

It's the thing I had to keep reminding myself, that the MM setting was post-Apocalyptic, yes, but same-generation. So Max, Auntie and others of that generation still remember what it was like before, it's only the children that see the pre-collapse world as legendary.

the music at the very beginning is clearly phenomenal, the initial (drum and organ🤔) 'rumbling' is so intense and intimidating. You just know Bartertown isn't going to be an easy ride.

I saw this for the first time when I was thirteen. That industrial background beat gets stuck in my head to this day.

I still love how courteous the water dealer is, even after he’s been found out. “Have a nice day!” 😊

Bartertown and how it works and its social structure and architecture and everything was the most interesting part of this movie, wish they had done much more with it. I'd be interested in a fictional documentary just on Bartertown.

Nearly 40 years after seeing this the first time on HBO and I can still remember that steel drum track note for note.

The first half of the movie is one of the best hours in the history of sci-fi movies. So much creativity. The 2nd half, after the kids show up? Gag.

Loved the first two MM films, but this was a true cinema experience when I saw it ( in Roseville, they had a 4 quad speaker system when they played this film, one of the first theaters outside of the THX systems ). Definitely a great film!

It was cathartic to watch him pull out all those weapons.

The amount of weapons max relinquishes at the end is hilarious.

I love how extremely irradiated the water is that the guy tries peddling Max into buying. “Have a nice day!!”

I grew up in Melbourne Australia which is coastal and green and one family holiday we were driving inland and I noticed the soil becoming red and I got excited knowing I was entering Mad Max's wasteland.

So cool that we could easily rent most movies on videotape by then (1985) instead of waiting for a TV channel to edit it, cleaned-up for family viewing as network television operated in the 1970s and beyond. I made a copy of the rental for my own collection and watched it over and over.... Today I have a digitized copy, but I still can play back the entire movie in my head even today. So awesome. Tina made it twice as good.
