Eva, my best tip as someone who had to also read so many novels studying English in uni is to listen to audiobooks! Passing and Portrait of an Artist as a Young man are on YouTube for free

We have similar seminar like courses for 4th year English students, a tip I have for talking and still potentially getting some participation marks (if ur not in the mood to talk or dk what to say about the book etc) is usually I go over any prep material or a keyword from the syllabus course description lol and just try and frame that into a sentence or two and than kind of leave it open ended for discussion or for the Prof to potentially lead with. Just try and have some points pre-written pertaining some main view or theme that's been passed around in the class and you should be fine.
