These came as a gift from my favorite cousin, Ate Chen, from Japan.

Here's a #shorts video on how to use ink stick and ink stone. I am surprised how this turned out. It's so lovely!!

I don't understand all the negativity in these comments. as far as Not grinding enough, it shows at about 5 seconds that on the inside of the box there are different shades used by more or less water or grinding. These solid state Sumi ink sticks are really, quite solid. It takes more then four years for them to properly cure in the traditional way, and not easy to just grind a whole bunch in the short time it took to do a YT short that's meant to maybe help people who might have gotten the stick in an art box subscription, not knowing what it is and with no instructions on how to use them. and as for wasteful, what is so wasteful about this? I Truly do not understand where the waste is. and for the comment about how its not meant to be soothing or relaxing? maybe if you cared to look any further in to the art and craft of Japanese calligraphy and the craft of making these special ink pigments, you would see that the grinding part is absolutely meant to be a meditative experience.
thank you for this video, you've done a good job.

$1000 American dollars a stick, I hear?!?! Hate to break it to you but CRAYOLA® makes the exact same product in a strip of ten colors for about 89 cents. It’s called CRAYOLA ® WATERCOLORS ™
