What happened to freedom of expression. I think by "peaceful protest" they really meant standing silently on the corner away from everyone. Thats not the point in protest

Because when mixing with pro-monarchy crowd, there could be violence. And there are little kids in those crowds, who need protection from potential trouble! So, yeah, I think some kind of action is needed, just so the day is peaceful. At the same time, freedom of speech and peaceful protest must be respected! Quite the balancing act!

what dont these people understand the monarchy has nothing to do with how the country is ran... so they protesting about nothing... all they are doing is getting attention and thats all they want...

How can you be arrested on 'suspicion' of breach of the peace when such an offence does not exist in England. You may be arrested in order to prevent a breach of the peace but you must be released as soon as it is practicable once the potential for a breach of the peace has abated.
