I like to run hi vis braid to mono so I can see the line and I get a little stretch with the 10 ft of mono. I've heard knots don't do so well straight to a bait; well, they say a Palomar does good, but I haven't tried it.

Love the Smackdown Dirt Z ~ I am a braid user and abuser my darn self. So Good. Makes me wonder how we ever got it done with tired & slothful mono just 10 years ago.

Been using braid for many years... use it for everything... if I need to finesse, fluoro leader it is... I even use it for topwater and have no problem hooking and holding big smallies on my Lake Champlain... : )

Why flouro leader on frogs and top water? Wouldn’t you use mono so it stays on top?

I use mono only for leader material to help absorb that shock because I try to bring the thunder in my hook sets. And that mono has yet to let me down. Now if I’m punching I’ll use #straitbraid.

Z amazing video. I was running straight 12 lb seagar mono on my baitcaster. Some people think that's crazy but I learned how to throw it so it was working for me with cranks and jerk baits. However started losing alot of fish with the stretch at a long distance from the boat. What knot do you tie for your line connection from braid to mono.

I tried doing the leader thing for a while. I have confidence in my leader knot tying ability, but the knot (yes, even an FG, don't pretend it's unnoticeable) hitting the guides drives me nuts. It actually makes skipping a lure way more of a pain, too. There isn't a rod on the market that comes with guides big enough to make it a non issue (and it'd be unbalanced if there were). Plus the bass don't care. Studies have shown that bass react to dark colored braid and mono as if they are bits of vegetation. I went back to straight fluoro for freshwater other than stripers and catfish. For that I use braid, swivel, mono. And my leader is usually only 18-24 inches. In that case it is only for abrasion resistance on their rough teeth and spinning behavior.

What lures would you not throw braid on

What knot do you prefer joining your braid to fluorocarbon on the spinning set up? Love your Dirt videos please keep them coming!!

It also allows you to use a significantly smaller diameter line and still have a high lb test. I use 8lb diameter braid...which is 20lb test on most of my bass rods.

Could we see some show dirt on Hackney's jig's, along with some vintage Hackney hooksets?

I just ordered 2 sixgill crius reels and want to know what braided line would be good for me. I don't ever catch big ones, but I want to cast further and lighter baits.. what should I get?

i use braid on ALL my setups...if you ever have issues with back lashing with straight fluro that will go away with braid
