On one hand, I understand the changes but this is basically a completely different song now. I love the added lines with Brooke but the ending feels like a different song and the transition into Loser Geek Whatever doesn't feel as smooth as it should. Maybe it's because I've grown so accustomed to the Two River version that this version isn't as good to me I don't hate it or anything but wow is it different.

ok this is truly an upgrade, it gave everyone more character, story and personality than before, its like this isnt just jeremy's story anymore, but everybody else's

I think where they're going with this version is showing that Jeremy isn't the only one who wants an upgrade in his life. everyone does (you know cause, "I'm tired of being the person that everyone thinks that I am"?) like, Jenna wants to be heard, Brooke wants to be seen, Jake wants a better relationship (since his story is mostly revolving around relationships like his parents, Chloe and Christine), Chloe, I assume from her line in the new do you wanna hang, indicates she hates being seen as 'the mean one'. hope this makes sense :3

I love the ending of this version, I think it gives all the characters so much more depth, and it sounds so beautiful, the overlap of "I'm tired of being the person that everyone things that I am". And the player two line killed me

I love this new version of the song and of the musical because all the characters are more human, they made a real upgrade making them sound like real teenagers

Honestly upgrade feels like two different songs...they should’ve stuck w/ the original lyrics for upgrade and then added a new song cause honestly “I’m tried of being the person that everyone thinks that I am” could honestly work as it’s own song but it just feels mushed together with upgrade it doesn’t work well

gonna be honest, i love this version, possibly more than the older version. i actually feel that all of this held together really smoothly. this is gorgeous musically, in my opinion. and it’s okay if you disagree! i’m just here to speak on behalf of those of us that really enjoy this new version of the song. in a way, i feel that it’s more fit for a broadway production and feel that the end of the song is gorgeous.

This song would've been perfect had they just added one more of the whole group singing "I'm tired of being the person that everyone thinks that I am" before they hold the note at the end. It just feels unfinished like there should be just a little more buildup. I still am in love with this version of Upgrade.
