Evidence for God: Ep 38. Debunking Darwinian evolution

Dr Stephen Meyer explains mathematical challenges to Darwinian evolution. Scientists have worked out the total possible mutations that could ever have happened during replication of all living things that have ever lived. They then compared this with the random chance of creating a functional simple protein (150 amino acids long) vs non-functional proteins.

The result? The chance that a mutation could randomly create a functional protein is statistically impossible (1/10^36). Mathematical probabilities debunk Darwinian evolution.

The alternative explanation is intelligent design of such phenomenally complex life, which leads to the designer- God.

There's a couple problems with this reasoning.

We don't know how lengthy the first useful proteins were in early self-replicating life, or whether they were built up to this point.

We also have no reason to believe only a specific set and order of amino acids are absolutely required for a given functioning protein. For all we know, there are near limitless combinations of sequences that could perform the same function.
