In 1947, my Dad was on the USS Philippine Sea, CV47. That was the flagship for Admiral Byrd's expedition to Antarctica. They equipped DC3's with skis and jet bottles (jato tanks) for take off from the carrier. The planes, which were commonly used by the airlines (designated the R4D for Military use) were the first jet take off from an aircraft carrier.

We had that 747 Evergreen cargo plane at the beginning of the video stop by our base (McGuire) once a month and my favorite part was going upstairs to rummage through the snacks and pick a few different items from different countries including Saudi Coca-Cola lol.
