My old Braun 340 shaver is still working fine apart from tired NiMh rechargeable batteries.
Let's tear it down - replace the batteries and reassemble it.

Thank you for the video! Just repaired my 340, if you tear the head completely apart, the trimmer doesn't need to get removed. Screws are all torx8. I've now Varta 1600 mAH in lets see how long they last...

Excellent video, many thanks. I combined this with another vid showing how to re-insert the clipper drive by dismantling the head, inserting the white plastic internal part with the pin, then re-assembling the head. Either way, it's fiddly and there's a great chance for these small bits to break if you are unlucky enough. Mines's now charging and this shaver is still better than the Remington thing I bought 6 months ago which sounds like a chainsaw and keeps snagging my moustache!

I think the O ring is one of two that fit around the posts of the top part where the two screws go down which attach the top part to the main body.

The trimmer was the reason I was saving the shaver and I can’t see how to reattach it! X-D

Edit:

Never mind. Surprisingly simple, if fiddly. There’s another teeny tiny hole in the shaver itself that the spring needs to fit into. Then you line up the sticky-uppy bits on the shaver to the grooves in the trimmer and slide them back in.

Thanks a lot. I've built original batteries and it works.

I ordered the proper batteries for my 3040s . They were about £11 for 2 but they have them tabs on the side to stop them falling out . I've had the original one's in it for must be 10 years and the shaver is still £50 to buy down from £119 so £11 is a worthwhile price to make it new again.

Great video. Thank you! I took my Braun 340s-4 apart to make sure I was ordering the correct batteries, realized there was a 5 day delivery, so decided to re-assemble and use it as-is until the new batteries came it, but would you believe one of the torx screws at the top snapped just as I was tightening it?!!! There appears to be enough of the screw protruding that I may be able to remove it with plyers, but now where the heck do I get a replacement screw???

Thanks a lot for this help. I have had some sweat on my back, but, one hour later, my shaver works again for a new life. The 2 first screw need a TORX 9x40 screw-driver. I have got one.

If you installed the head before the rubber grip, all you need to do is loosen the upper screws for 1-2 millimeters and shift the head upwards. The rubber grip will pop into place with a gentle pressure. Fasten the screws then and all will still work fine.

Today (after 29 days) I first time had to re charge (took some 2 hours). The 1600mAh seem to be double of the original cells. They made 16 days when new as far as I remember. In ebay you can find cells with the pin which directly fit into the the shaver (and several other models from Braun as well). I used standard AA cells plus a M6 brass washer (outer diameter perfectly matches the AA diameter) to increase contact pressure.

Thanks for the video !
I just need a confirmation : i've found two types of battery dimensions, what are exactly the length needed ? 50mm or 44mm ?

I notice you did not disassemble the little springs and plastic clips that mate to the cutter as in other videos I've seen. I assume that was not necessary?

Thanks for the video and explanation. With your help I changed the batteries of my Barun S3 with two Panasonic Eneloop AA Ni-MH batteries. Now the charging time is less than one hour, but the shaver can only work about 5 minutes. Has somebody the same problem? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

YOOTUBER : WATCH THIS VIDEO AT 20:00 BEFORE YOU COPY TRIPP'S MISTAKE.

Nice tips, worked for me and good try but hey, must say i'm feeling rather smug as I ended up putting everything back in order it came off ;-)

People who watch and follow this video to the letter will simply copy your errors.
Why not take this video down, do it again and get it right? At the very least put a warning in the title that this clip MUST be watched through before commencing work?

I believe the o ring you have left over comes from the inner side of cowling removed at 3.35
also my machine also had only the two screws holding the battery cover so I think its a standard thing.
I found standard rechargeable AA size 2500mAh batteries work fine with a minimal tweak of the contacts.

Cheers!

It's a TX 8 needed to unscrew the bottom part (I assume hard to get since you English guys have weird inch feet mile gallon whatever systems)
