If imax enhanced is 12.0 channels, will the lfe + main setting on an avr still use the subs?

So does that mean that, IMAX Enhanced dts:X soundtracks are mixed in 12.0? If so, that would explain why a lot of people are complaining that the bass with IMAX enhanced movies are on the soft side. Cos let's be honest, 90% of what we have can't reproduce a full range 12.0 soundtrack. Or did I misunderstand?
