I thought it was going to be the transfer of writing style, as in a program that you could feed a) a news article and b) a novel and it would output a piece of text with the contents of the article, but in the writing style of the author. Still cool stuff though!

Finally we get something that beats ML. It was starting to feel like all advancements were gonna be "throw more ML at the problem"

seems like a case of the right domain applied to a problem. after all NN solution aren't aware of the problem, instead we abuse an emergent property, maybe combining back, will help improve even further both techniques!

This really confused me. I thought it was about transferring the writing style of a known author to another text so that you keep the meaning of the text but use a more interesting, artistic language.
That would be mind blowing.

Where did you get that Ruder Et Al. video? Is there an implementation of that online? ie the code? That looks really really cool.

1) They still use a SVM but for estimating eta parameter for color accuracy _only_

2) No curvelets or wavelets? Besides not using NN or ML? I'm truly astounded.

Is it just me or the audio sounds sounds a bit weird?

Your thumbnail is misleading. I thought this video was going to be about mimicking individual handwriting styles (i.e., faking signatures), because this is what the thumbnail strongly suggests.

Misleading title, great video nonetheless.
