“Wildcats shall meet hyenas, / Goat-demons shall greet each other; / There too the lilith shall repose / And find herself a resting place” (Isaiah 34:14).

The name Lilit (-h) actually strikes me as a 'pseudo-translation'. In Sumerian, 'lil' is 'the wind', which just happens to sound like 'leil-', meaning 'night', in most Afro-Asiatic languages (e.g. Akkadian/'Babylonian'), so that the meaning is changed somewhat. Akkadian scholars often understood both languages and probably 'had fun with' the names...

(Similarly Uru-En would have meant simply 'Lord of Ur [Chaldea]' in Sumerian, but Uru-Anna suggested 'Light of Heaven'. This may have eventually produced Orion, despite Sumerian, Akkadian and Greek all belonging to entirely different language-families. Or cf. Ousir-Hapi [Egyptian] producing 'Osiris-Apis' [Greek], and finally Serapis - and the familiar Seraphim...)

It was taboo to speak of Lilith whn I was a kid. She was what the "heathen" believed to be Adam's true wife. Since that was Eve, it must be an evil wicked heathen lie. Even learning about such things was "wicked". My inner child thanks you for this lesson on Lilith. I am glad to know the details surrounding her. You know than mantra of hardheaded youth -Forbid me to do a thing and I will surely do it as well as I can.-I was quite faithful to that in my day. How could I overlook learning of lilith? She's fascinating! It would have sent my sunday school teacher into apoplexy. Bless her heart.

Right on, my friend! Lilith is an independent gal who most definitely "sings her own tunes, " so to speak! For sure! Great video! Keep these coming, as this series absolutely rocks, as does your overall concept! Rock on & peace out, everyone!🤘💜🌍

I first heard about Lilith in C.S Lewis's the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe with Jadis being a descendant of Lilith

This is where we get the whole lullaby thing from because it basically means Lilith go bye-bye. Because she was blamed for SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome what they used to call crib death.

Lilith came from the word ‘Lilitu’, meaning like a night owl and she was literally just a night demon that preyed on infants and men, hence why she also became associated with the succubus. Pop culture and some of today’s feminism started changing her character into this misunderstood woman who just wanted to be free from men, mostly coming from legends of how she was ‘the first Eve’. All Jewish myths and legends tho tbh

Great video!! You go so deep into these myths it's refreshing. I'm looking forward to the next one. How many parts will this series have? Perhaps one from an occultist perspective in how she's worked with and what she means to those who are not christians.

"Pinched" infants from their families. Excellent choice of words. Yes, I was an infant. Yes, I was "pinched." And it was no fun! Seducer not only of men, but of children.

Thank you for a wonderful video! I've been studying Sumerian mythology and religion and have come across "Lilitu" a number of times. She is a fascinating female owl-like demoness!

I like to compare Lilith’s backstory to that of Loki’s: someone who isn’t necessarily bad, or evil, just misunderstood and an outcast. Like Lilith, Loki, had a bleak backstory, being the sibling that no one liked; similarly, with Lilith, she is the one that was discarded, when she wasn’t deemed “good enough, ” at least in Adam’s and the Lord’s, eyes. With Loki, when he was found that he wasn’t useful to his brother or father, he was basically discarded as well. I like both of these “characters, ” bc of how deeply human their story is. So many ppl in society feel shunned, just like me, and look up to these figures as a role model almost. Although, I don’t look up to these figures as such, I still admire and respect both the figures of Loki and Lilith! ☺️
