everyone who like the movie has to read the book! As usual. I read the book in 1979 while I was 16 and in hospital with a broken leg after a motor cycle accident for 3 month. The book helped me to overcome this time and many other difficult times in my life...

I have Read Papillion 18 times. It's that amazing. I cannot begin to tell you how far short the movie falls. It leaves out 3 of the major escape attempts and all the magic. Seeing the movie reminded me of a quote:

"To see your novel turned into a movie, is to see your prized bull reduced a bouillon cube..."

Of special note, this part of the Blu ray release is tremendous. Some gorgeous restoration has been performed here, and marvellous to see McQueen leaping to freedom in glorious 1080p picture with equally excellent sound.

God damn Dustin Hoffman can act. The best acting I have ever seen was him in this movie. I love this movie and I wish it was more popular. I wish more people could see it.

This movie was one of the best movie I have ever seen, thank you Steve McQueen and rest of the crew for such historic movie that will last for ever .... Massage of freedom and human desire can be felt in countries like Iran ....as a human who was born in Iran I did had a chance to leave to reach freedom on the other side of the ocean in 1983 when I was in my early twenties ...and I made to America ....🗽🗽🗽 Great USA, beautiful natural beauty, and the freedom🗽🗽🗽 to grow became my nest for 27 years... After 27 years living in USA where I really felt free🗽🗽🗽 and enjoyed living .... Came back to Iran to see my dying father and stayed to take care of him .... Now l can't leave this place and I'am in my sixties .... When I watch the last seen of this movie, reminds me again and again ... Life without freedom in no living .... It is just misery

I must of watched the remastered version on cable in the 90's because this seriously brings out all of the color and detail of French Guiana. Hands down this has been one of my favorite movies.

It brings tears to me eyes because of the tragedies that human have been suffering since our creation.  And the music has accomplished its predicament.
