The chromatics pretty much are essential for night time driving. They have that haunting quality that just works better for a night time drive.

So this video strikes a very special chord with me. Memories of me and my dad driving down this very same highway. He did pass a couple years back but everytime I see this j remember him.. and how he helped shape who I am today. Thanks dad, and I love you.

This song deserves a place among the greatest songs ever. The way the music slowly fades in, the teasing no problem lyric, and the second chorus of lets exchange the experience which they dont overdo make this a true work of art

I used to work with my dad in northern VA and this video was literally my trip home. Now that he has passed away this song and video just fills me with some many memories from over a decade. Thanks.

This song's getting so much love from Stranger Things fans at the moment. The Chromatics cover is still my favourite :)

That synth, her voice, the video itself... Just hard to explain, but couldn't be better than this. What a vibe, what a feeling!

This song nails that "let's go to the other side and never come back" vibe. Stay safe everyone and rock on.

Something about her voice feels so personal and endearing... and perfect... like the personification of somebody's mind dancing alone inside of their head

Love this song. It's got that Joy Division isolated, pending doom type feel. So dark, contrasts well with her voice.

It doesn't hurt me
You want to feel how it feels?
You want to know that it didn't hurt me?
You want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
Oh, you, it's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
You don't want to hurt me
But see how deep the bullet lies
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder
There is thunder in our hearts
Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
You, it's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
And if I…

One of the greatest covers of all time. This isn't an opinion. It's a straight up fact.

It feels like the driver is leaving his lover, and in the middle of the way he stars to fell so emotional that his tears starts to blur his vision. In the end looks like he imagines going back.

I'm drunk as all hell listening to this song out on my sunporch with its glass ceiling and walls during a heavy rainstorm. What an experience lemme tell ya.

If I were asked to provide a definition of "Freedom" I would say: "Listening to Chromatics at night in the middle of an empty and lonely avenue."
Try it, it's fucking perfect.

I like the Kate Bush original a lot, but this is a strong effort. The instrumental parts provide a beautiful contrast to the vocals, and I really like the night drive video; it works for me for the song, which always came across as the type of lonely/melancholy/deep musing that you might do in the late hours of the night, alone, driving on a lonely highway.

Something about this video with the song really gets me. It's like the freeway driving footage represents one's alienation in modern civilization. Drifting through a sea of machines...
