How to Install Inside Mount Roman Shades

1. Use the two slots in the top of the headrail to position the mounting brackets. With the front of the shade facing you, center the headrail in the window and make a mark through both slots in the top of the window frame. This is where you'll place the brackets.

2. Set the shade aside. Place each bracket over your marks and using the holes in the bracket, mark where you'll insert the mounting screws.

3. Loosely drill in the mounting screws on each bracket.

4. Before drilling screws in all the way, measure between the two brackets to make sure they're aligned and even. Finish drilling in screws.

5. With front of shade facing you, use the slot holes to position the headrail over the bottom of the screws.

6. Reach up under the shade and attach the wingnuts to screws and secure headrail in window.

7. Pull shade down and up to make sure it works right.

Video shows him drawing a line through the gap in the blind and then drilling the pilot holes along this line. The line drawn is where the bracket stud will be located. If you drill your bracket holes in this location, your shade will be mounted forward instead of flush with the sill.

I can’t draw through the holes in the top of the headrail because the bar is in the way. It’s literally impossible.

The screws that came with mine were too long. Is this a common issue?

My order came in, but we cannot install because we have a transom window at the top. The brackets are meant to be installed into the sheet rock, but we aren’t putting the shades all the way up. Suggestions?
