You'll go through less fire wood if you limit air flow into the bottom of the stove. I would take the scrap piece from the bottom of the bowl you used to create the sliding window, put a bolt through the middle of that and the bowl with the perforated bottom, then drill holes through both to match the pattern that you already have. From there, create some sort of handle that either becomes out of the gap that's already there or through a hole in the very bottom bowl so that you can rotate it to choke off some of the air flow. Overall, this is a fantastic design though.

I'm going to pass this along to my almost an eagle scout grandson. Great idea on a small stove. Anyone who decides to use a hacksaw to cut the threaded stock, be sure you put a nut on it first, then if you get a not-so-perfect cut, you can back that nut off the threaded stock and it will realign the threads enough to get a nut on and off in the future.

You need a damper in the chimney to regulate the air flow so the wood doesn't burn so fast. It will also help the heat radiate outwards instead of most of it going up the chimney.

I used the larger stainless dog bowls from Dollartree to make an oven and a fire pan for baking. Their smaller bowls are great individual dishes/saucepans. But, now I want to build this stove! What a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Any cheap homemade woodstove is a win, this is great, especially what they charge for even small ones

my fav for simplicity, efficiency, low cost and weight! Thank you for sharing th idea!

I don't know if someone's already mentioned already this but to increase stability you could put in a 10 or 15 degree bend in the threaded rods below where they come out from the dog pans then point the bends out from the pans.

I consider myself a bit of an engineer as well. But it's time I get going on making a tent stove . I like your door design on this project you made and that have me more ideas . Also your dog bowls of stainless steel idea is genius.

I gotta say man nothing has made me miss camping more than your videos! I’m glad I found your channel.

Add a damper in the future to help with your burn time.
Pretty cool little project!
I made a wood stove out of a 12 quart canning pot. It's pretty badass and reminds me a lot of this.

Brilliant. I've been contemplating doing pretty much this same project using salad bowls and this randomly pops up on my feed. Subscribed.

The type of wood you burn will change the burn time from one type to another.
Mixing hard wood with soft wood also changes how fast and hot the fire burns.
Have a bottom damper is one way to control burn time but also placing a damper on the chimney will help control the burn time and amount of heat. Use briquettes on the bottom to have longer heat.

Awesome! I'm thinking of improvements already. Large flat washers for feet, and for the handle use the full length of the cut-out and roll it so its larger and the curl won't hold heat.
Great job!

Hey, Great Job...!!! Just want to mention, IF someone hasn't... make your chimney pipe as tall as you can stability wise... and you'll create a strong draw on the air inlet side... and and have a cleaner burn also... damper is very necessary as mentioned often. Thanks for sharing your ideas freely...!!!

Pretty ingenious and awesome honestly! Just use a cheap metal wood spring clamp on the door, a big enough one won't be too hot on the end.

as my engineer son would say, eloquently simple. i am so going to make this with my grandsons. subscribing was easy decision.

Great project! And agree with the note below about starving it of some air through the bottom to reduce the flame and conserve wood.
Nice job though 👍😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

We never see snow here in the Philippine islands but it can get "nippy" in places like the mountains of Baguio. There are times a small stove would be appreciated to conquer the chill on a frosty morning. We like what you have created. We are thinking about a few mods to make this project perfect for use in our location. Great video man.
