One suggestion from a plastic kit model builder: Instead of painting the control elements or other panels by hand I would design them with a layout software and then print them on water decal paper which is not too expensive but will make them look very detailed when applied! And it even can save you a lot of time when you have to do identical elements again and again...

Your commitment and enthusiasm are what make this so much fun !!! Wouldn't it be epic if William Shatner was there for the opening 😮

This, my friend, is the best Star Trek I have seen since the end of DS9.

The original Enterprise was my first love. I used to draw it on yellow paper in 2nd grade. My mother would get home from work, she was a teacher, and we would watch Star Trek at 4pm. I arranged my bedroom like the bridge and sickbay. Haha. The Enterprise and Star Trek is why I am an engineer.

Kirk: "For the first time I've come to realize just how big this ship really is."
For the 1/25 scale version, you should include one or two 1/25 scale model cars just for scale comparison.

NCC-1701 is THE Starship, you can't beat the original. She was the first one to boldly go. Thank you for all your effort my friend!👍🖖

61 years old here. The Enterprise and her crew have always been inspiration. Inspiration for imagination, study, behavior. Like many others in the comments, my school notebooks were filled with doodles of saucers, nacelles, and primary hulls, all in an attempt to get the perspectives just right. Many AMC model kits (sadly with droopy nacelles) have passed my way. A 4th grade assignment to make a presentation to the class was all about the Enterprise (sourced from the old “Making of Star Trek” book. From a classmates question of “Is this real?” I must have done a credible in-universe presentation! From this channel, it’s very nice to see I’m not the only one to have been inspired! Keep up the good work!

You asked the question, what does she mean to me. Firstly, she was an escape from the harsh reality of a world that quit caring. She was, and always be, my escape into a better world. She is all three. A community reaching into space. A warship defending right. A science vessel that shows, there is still so much more to discover. I dreamed of building her on this grand scale. Alas storage space and funds are my challenge. My son is autistic, and takes up most of my time. So when a friend showed me what you are making, I was extatic!!! You are not just building a modle, you are building a hope, and a dream, of what we all want to strive for. God speed, sir!!!

I grew up inspired by the TOS Enterprise, but my favorite version is the Refit. But the tos always has a place in my heart.

Favorite exterior: early movies refit. Favorite bridge: it's a toss up between ST:II and ST:V.

The Enterprise, in any of its incarnations, is a place to live and work in space whose designers not only gave thought to its purpose and provided nigh-on magical scientific equipment and machinery to carry out its mission of exploring and cataloging everything in its path, but also to the comfort and security of its crew, not just in terms of its amenities, but also the philosophy of the Federation where nobody cares what your race, background, species, or ideology is as long as you are a good, productive member of society. The Enterprise to me represents the best of humanity in all aspects, as well as the drive to boldly seek out the new and the wondrous amongst the terrors of deep space.

Model making does put us in touch with our youth. A different part of the mind is let loose and set free, like when we were kids.

The original Enterprise and even the refit hold a special place in my heart. I might not have realized how much if it wasn't that I found myself tearing up seeing its destruction in Star Trek III. (That was the first time I teared up watching a movie.) Back in the days before Star Wars, nothing on television appealed to me as much as Star Trek with its many scripts written by talented speculative fiction authors. I have fond memories of assembling an Enterprise model with my dad who'd introduced me to the show. I don't have an emotional attachment to any of the other Enterprises or Star Trek ships, but then they weren't there during those important developmental years when I was discovering how science-fiction could address important issues and bonding with my father.

The original Enterprise and refit from TMP are my jam.
Back with the original series, as a kid, I built a lighted ERTL model with battery operated lights on the top and bottom center of the saucer section (phasers). During nighttime, I would run around the darkened rooms of our home with my imagination running through missions and adventures. The impact this had on me has literally lasted a lifetime.
This project is amazing, and I applaud your skills, creativity and tenacity to do something I've always dreamed of doing myself.
To me, the Enterprise was a central character in the series. It also represented a very positive future which embraced diversity and sought to show that exploration, intelligence, compassion, empathy, etc... outweighed small-minded bigotry and greed that unfortunately STILL exists in this world sixty years later. I suppose I always envisioned that Star Trek was a sort of a blueprint toward humanity becoming more enlightened.

U.S.S. ENTERPRISE. No bloody A, B, C, or D! Love he grew up in my home town!🤣 The ship, to me, was always part of the crew. She protected, explored, suffered injury, and waged war right along with Kirk and team! And yes, no lie, James Doohan grew up in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Saw his name on the old SCITS high school trophy for shooting.
Now for REALLY cool geek information. The gentleman who was the lead engineer for the Avro Arrow (also born/raised here), eventually went on to work for NASA, and developed the lunar lander. Owen Maynard was the gentleman’s name. I only learned of him through working with his cousin! I thought maybe I was being snowed a bit; but nope!! ✌️🤘🇨🇦

there is no substitute for the original -- it's the best version, all variations pale in its shadow.

it's an exploration ship outfitted with the necessary armaments for defense. but, it also serves as a warship when needed. it's what it needs to be in a situation.

can't wait to be able to watch 'unification, ' it looks fantastic.

The U.S.S. Enterprise, the original, I first viewed in like 1975, I was 4 years old. I fell in love. That was a symbol of hope, advancement, a better future. A way to travel the galaxy. Literally, the Preamble of the show, these are the voyages.... I don't think I would have cared what the ship looked like at that point. I do know this, no other science fiction shows, movies and their space vessel counterparts, ever mattered to me. As much as this ship. Then there was the refit, as I got a little older, and they fixed all the things I grew up never liking about the original Enterprise. More design issues. Those two ships and the people who were the main characters taught me much of all I needed to know. Bless you, bless the show, and bless this ship build. Thank You.
