My dad was also a marine in Vietnam. He just spent the year battling prostate cancer and now he’s doing good.

Back in 1967 my best friend from jr.high and high school told me he had joined the Marine Corp. I had already started the paper work for The Navy to be a Corp Man (medic).I changed my mind and I signed for the Marines. Said to my self "I can't let him do that by himself " . He was a month ahead of me in training. We met up in staging battalion and flew on the same plane to Nam. Separated in Da Nang. I was wounded and sent to Japan then back to the states two months later I found out he had been wounded and sent back to the states.

Best friends will have each other back no matter the situation. Especially when it's a young man dying for no reason.

SEMPER FI... 👍
Glad you made it back to the world.
I also lost a very dear friend to the war: Jon Holden, 101st Airborne.
Jon didn't die in Vietnam, but it killed him just the same.
He served in an area that was heavily sprayed with toxic herbicides (Agent Orange) and developed numerous cancers as a result.
Hope you are doing well. ✌

I have had the pleasure of knowing several vets, my Dad was a medic in the Air Force, a brother gave his life to the Marines. Have a brother who is Army vet. So Proud of my Family and pray for all vets and their families.

I knew an old guy in construction that watched one of his best friends get shot down in the Cobra next to him. There wasn't one sortie he didn't volunteer to go out on after that, he wanted to get revenge for his friend. I asked him if he get it, and he looked at me and simply said "yes"
