We Ride The 2024 Kawasaki ZX-6R - Is It A Stud Or A Dud?

The 600 supersport class isn't dead just yet! Kawasaki has updated the Ninja ZX-6R for 2024 to keep it fresh (and somewhat relevant). Granted, the changes amount to some minor tweaks like a new look, round brake discs (instead of the petal shape), and some engine tweaks to make it burn cleaner, but with a class that's hanging on by a thread, maybe we should just be happy the 636cc Ninja is still around at all. It's still a fun bike to ride and Road Test Editor Troy Siahaan got to ride it at one of the best tracks in the Pacific Northwest – The Ridge – to see what it was all about.

Applause to Kawasaki to keep the supersport bike alive, despite the more and more stringent emission regulations.
Hopefully we will see more sports bikes in the upcoming EICMA 2023.

Y’all shower praise for the underwhelming and overpriced zx4rr but critique the Zx6r that offers a much better value across the board. I have yet to see a zx4rr on the road but more and more new Zx6rs around when I ride. Say what you will but people vote with their wallets.

ZX-6R still my favorite 600 bike. I have the 2009 version and always love riding it in the canyons. The engine screams and overall, the bike rips.

Sold mine last year and have to say it’s probably the best 600cc class bike out there

I love this bike! I picked up one of the last 2023 models in black in May. I could have waited for the 2024 model, but I really like the older analog tachometer and LCD gauges. I have never taken it on the track and mostly use it for daily commuting in and around NYC. After a few months I decided to throw on some helibars to make it a bit more comfy and couldn't be happier with it.

Obviously not the right person to review this bike. He was bored from the beginning, unimpressed and not knowing what to say about the bike

One of the most sexy bike on the market with new cbr 600RR. Beautiful.

I still prefer this in the middle weight class than the R7 and RS660(with only 2 cylinders).

Has been 10 years or more since I was riding 600 super sports but here we are reminiscing those days...not sure if its time to pick up another or just good memories.

This is a review from a track perspective. Unfortunately 90% of riders will never track it so I guess this is for 10% of the viewers.

The pedal style rotors look much better. I hate that Kawi has abandoned them.

Your video was great and provided a lot of explanations about the bike. But, I have a question: Does it fit a larger tire on the rear wheel with the same rim? Thank you!

for shits and giggles i was comparing insurance rates between 4rr and the 6r. but damn, the difference on the monthly between a 400cc and a 600c bike is absurd

Its essentially the same as my 05 636!

i like mine, got it about 7 months ago, its number 101 made . I do have alot of gripes compared to my 09 r6 and 09 cbr 600rr.
1. I'm 6ft tall with longer legs, when i put the ball of my feet on pegs and tuck my legs are above the groove on the tank, along with my neck hurting after 20min from tucking.
2. The difference between modes is very minimal, i am however thankful for the rain mode, it helped.
3. The quick shifter is not dialed in correctly, i was told you cant adjust it? but idk. i dont use it
4. The Welds on the frame are ATROCIOUS like a 2 yr old welded it. Very ugly globbed up welds
5. Windshield is basically non existent, been waiting 8 months for a new one, Zero gravity finally dropped 4 new ones
6. The NEW TFT display is ok at first, but you quickly realize its more a distraction than anything, i would happily trade for an actual needle dial
7. The APP that goes with this bike, ABSOLUTLEY USELESS on the zx6r, it was built for the zx-10. They should have just left it out on this bike. Its like going to Six Flags, and seeing all the cool rides you won't be able to get on.
8. Bike with a slip-on just seems slow. Compared to my other bikes its very slow, being a 636cc i was expecting alot more than what it's tuned for oem.

i will report back after i do my thing to make it more better and faster for me

Ok... I have no clue how you drew these conclusions.
The issue with RPM: I've never felt it. The max HP is at high RPM.
If you turn KQS on, the shift is less than 20 milliseconds. There's no way a human being can feel the lag.
The TC has no issue. It works fine. No one needs a better performance, honestly.

Must have been something wrong with the one you rode. I test rode one last friday and the engine was fantastic, very smooth and responsive. And the bike is very useable in the street due to improvments to the low and mid range. Its an excellent bike.
