Melomakarona are one of the most popular treats in Greece during the Christmas Holidays with their intense homely smell full of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg making every house smelling like Christmas!

Ingredients

For the syrup:

-750 g water
-1.000 g sugar
-2 cinnamon sticks
-2 tbsp. honey

For the cookies:

-750 g plain flour
-187 g vegetable oil
-187 g olive oil
-225 g fresh orange juice
-75 g sugar
-10 g baking powder
-1 tsp. cinnamon
-1/2 tsp. cloves
-zest from 1 orange
-1/2 tsp. baking soda
-honey for the topping
-grated walnuts
