I like to think not all casualties in hoi4 translate to actual deaths. Some could be POWs or injuries that prevent further active duty.

One thing i realized about Stellaris is that space battles, even in the slowest speed, can last days. Imagine being stuck in a massive chunk of metal being hit by missiles and laser bolts 24/7 knowing danm well that if the ship explodes, no one is coming to save you.

Imagine if the game let you zoom in on to the battlefield and see what is going on there, that would be the best update on hoi4

It's true. Hoi4 often runs very slow because in each battle the game runs a ultra realistic simulation to determine an ever more realistic outcome.

I do find it fun to draw significant battles that happen in hoi4, I recently had an event occur where a battle went south in the Brazilian jungle, and I had to withdraw my troops to rio, I drew a scene that depict a full scale retreat of mechanized units down a rural road alongside a river with a downed bridge that included supply trucks now sitting half submerged along the banks of the river.

One of the most harrowing games I ever had was one game as Italy in a re-work mod. I had overthrown Musolini and sided with the allies. When I joined Ww2 I tried to knock Hungary out of the war quickly, but got encircled. Tens of thousands of men and 2 tank armies of thousands of tanks, trapped west of Budapest. I managed to get them out but it took months of hard fighting and massive Arial resupply.

Looking at this, my mind can't help but return to that game. What were those men thinking? Surrounded on all sides by a force determined to crush them, the pocket getting smaller and smaller as sllied forces fought desperately to break through to save them....

I like how hoi4 makes you act and feel like a real life leader. You see everything as a game of who moves what piece the best. And it is why more effective when a big war is happeing since all you vare about is winning

I had a scene like the 2nd clip play out for me in the game enlisted once.

A single american stuart tank rolls through a town split in half by a river with a series of bridges, suddenly a tank shell rips through and kills 3 out 4 crew, without a moment to think the final map gets on the cannon, returning a shell through a Sd.kfz.234 causing an ammo rack detonation. Undeterred from its mission the final crewman repairs the damaged beast enough to move again then hops into the driver's seat, parking itself in the treeline overlooking a major road into that side of the city.

For 10 hellish minutes he opens fire with the main gun and coaxial machine gun into the german advance, making them pay dearly for each advance on his side of the city, finally falling when the American forces on the other side of the river were pushed far enough for some infantry to sneak across a bridge with a bundle of tnt to destroy his tank.

In his defiant stand he knocked out 2 enemy armored vehicles and left the road to the city littered with bodies of German infantry.

Actually... if there's a tiger in the battle, but there's only inf unit as we can see on the map at the start, that mean the German player made space marines and must be kick or ban of the MP game.
