I was taught to let the horse take the bit on its own

A tip for the ties keeping your head stall on your bit, don’t do a normal knot! It could come undone easily. What you’re going to want to do is make a normal knot but tap one of the pieces around one more time, making a double knot!

I'm glad to see you taking an interest in horses however I was always taugh that using the bit on the horse's teeth like that to get him to except the bit hurts and you should never go about it this way cause you'll end up with a horse that shys away from the bit over time

Try putting that metal piece in your mouth to see how it feels. This will give you an idea of what your horse experiences all the time and whether your horse enjoys 'playing' with it.

My horse takes his bit on his own, but if your horse really isn’t opening their mouth you can stick a finger in their mouth where there’s not teeth and touch their tounge and the will open their mouth and therefore you put the bit in
