Agree with you on the hugging. It is all so insincere. I save my hugs for my husband and daughter because I love them immeasurably. I don't find it necessary to hug anyone else.

I agree with you about those over the top bear hugs. It's pretty vulgar to presume complete strangers are anxious for a hug from another complete stranger.
I certainly don't engulf strangers in my arms and I'd shudder if a random strangers tried to do the same to me. To me it's far too forward behaviour giving no consideration to anyone but your own ego.

I am Irish and I wasn't a very tactile person however 30 years ago I moved to Italy and as you know the Italians kiss each other on both cheeks so with time I became more tactile with those I know. I agree 💯 with you about the fake (imo) hugging of the Markles and I believe the NZ Captain was totally out of line. There is a time and place for everything and also certain codes of behaviour to be observed, particularly regarding Royalty, not to mention he is going through cancer

Diana did not greet strangers with a hug. After a visit with someone who was ill, she might offer a hug to make the person feel better. Diana was emphathetic and kind. I think MM hugs strangers to remind us she said the RF was cold.
