2013 Scion FR-S New Car Video Review

The 2013 Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine which is a essentially a flat-4 cylinder motor developed by Subaru. Power is pretty good for a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine at 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft. of torque. There are 2 different transmission choices: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The automatic transmission is much more fuel efficient at 25 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway.

The Scion FR-S was designed to be a great handling everyday affordable sports car and while this vehicle does not have a ton of power, it does have a great center of gravity and almost perfect weight distribution (for a front engine car) at 55% front and 45% rear. To illustrate just how serious the engineers are about the handling capabilities of the 2013 Scion FR-S, the car has a lower center of gravity than both a Nissan GTR and Porsche Boxster which are considered some of the best handling cars in the world.

The exterior of the Scion FR-S conveys a ton of fun. Scion calls this styling Neo-Functional Design and the car is all about being low, light, and beautiful. It is all about power-to-weight ratio in this car and features like an aluminum hood help keep the curb weight down to 2750 lbs. The 17-inch alloy wheels are not only very stong and lightweight but they also look good! The dual exhaust system and rear diffuser really tie the whole look of the rear end together.

With the 2013 Scion FR-S you will be able to accessorize and customize this car in a number of different ways by choosing the paint color, adding optional wheels and a body kit, or upgrading the stereo. The Scion FR-S was designed from the ground up to be an affordable car that you could drive on the streets then take out on the track for a little fun.

i got to sit in one today at a toyota dealership, im 6'4" and weigh 205 with a 36 inseam. With the seat pumped all the way down and pushed all the way back, theres more than enough headroom, leg room is adequate. My right leg hits up against the front instrument panel where temperature controls are the other 2 problems i had my foot size is a 16EEEE i couldnt even operate the pedals in a manual transmission in the frs, and it was almost impossible for me to get out since its so low to the ground

The prices in Pennsylvania for the Base Manual FRS and Base Automatic FRS are way higher, almost $1000 higher, 25k for manual, and 26k for the Automatic and thats all the way up the east coast unless you haggle.

Ive seen this frs with a automatic, and it looks like a manual it was different and cool to see.

Actually Toyota Designed every aspect of this car, they partnered with Subaru because they already had a horizontally opposed engine that was reliable. Although Toyota wanted to keep it naturally aspirated and Subaru's engine are weak if not boosted so they designed the fuel injection. Also Toyota owns 16% of Subaru..Toyota was the brains behind this operation.

I like how the automatic costed more back in the day. And is worth way less then manuals now

This car is 98% Subaru and 2% Scion.

Scion contributed the Logo's...that's about it.

More like 40% Subaru 60% Toyota, jointly developed, engine from Subaru, fuel injection system Toyota, chassis tuning from Toyota, and mostly Toyota did the body design, but Tada Tetsuya was the chief engineer and designer of the car from Toyota and had the original idea to bring back the sporty heritage of an AE86 like car, and the reason Subaru got involved not only because Toyota had a share in them was also because Tada and the engineers wanted the boxer engine to help handling.

It all depends on how you look at their cars. Yes the last decent 'sports' car they made was the Supra, which to this day in terms of a sports car is more legitimate then anything Subaru had/has.

The entire exterior is base on classic Toyota vehicles

When is the last time you saw a Toyota that inspired anyone and made them think they want to own it. Last decent car they made was the Supra.

this car does not have alot of combinations as far as options. The main ones are color, transmission, and deck. Thats pretty much it.

Fact is: this BRZ is a Subaru built in the Subaru factory rebadged with Scion logo.

It's nice to have this vehicle, but though I don't know how to drive it, I'll take this with a manual transmission.

My friend got a new FRS, and he thought he would be able to take me and my 2010 camaro ss. Needless to say, he was sadly mistaken

interior and exterior were designed by toyota, it uses toyota's D4-S dual injection fuel system and dual vvt-i variable cam timing, also the 6-speed automatic transmission is the same one found on the Lexus IS 250 but tuned a to give more sharper shifts, so i'll say it's more like 75% subaru, 25% toyota. as for scion...well we all know its just a marketing thing. regarless of what badge it carries it is a great car.

But does your car drift, and handle like this?, nor does it have the driver feel the 0-60 time will decrease with the huge aftermarket behind this car. PLEASE GO
