Here is a comparison of 12-12" Splash Cymbals . These are all the 12" Splashes I own. The back row (higher) are numbered 1-6. from left to right. The front row (lower) are numbered 7-12, from left to right. I play them in this order as well. A description and weight of each cymbal is below. Let me know which ones are your favorites! I like them all, but if I had to play favorites I would say the Wuhan (#5), Sabian HHX Evolution (#7) and the Block Ink A Zildjian(#12). This was recorded with a Zoom Q8 with the standard on board microphones.

Cymbals are (all 12" splashes):

#1-Sabian AAX-318 grams
#2 70's A. Zildjian-366 grams
#3 Sabian SR2 Thin (looks like HHX Hammering)-394 grams
#4 K. Zildjian Brilliant (late 80's-Mid 90's)-424 grams
#5 Wuhan (1st Generation)-416 grams
#6 Alejian (probably 60's)-338 grams
#7 Sabian HHX Evolution-396 grams
#8 60's A. Zildjian-386 grams
#9 First Stamp A. Zildjian (late 40's)-342 grams
#10 Hollow Ink A. Zildjian (1977-1983)-390 grams
#11 Extra Thin A. Zildjian-352 grams
#12 Block Ink A. Zildjian (1983-1993)-380 grams

Enjoy!

My top three here is close to what you picked. I would put the HHX Evolution and Wuhan in my top three as well, but then for me personally, the AAX would be the other one I'd pick. I might be a bit biased though as I have a 12" (a 10" for that matter) AAX splash. The way you formatted this video, with the cymbals numbered and the gram weights displayed is really great, thank for doing that!

Thanks for comparison! At this point it is better to buy the crash cymbal in my opinion

Awesome video. #2 sounds kind of like a 16" crash

the last one was best...I'm considering that I should use a big splash in a small practice room...a normal crash is overwhelming.

Cool video, check out the Sabian AAX 12” splash if you’re interested. It has a high pitch and perfect sustain. The thing about 12” splash cymbals is that they are on a fine line of sounding like a crash cymbal because of their diameter but fade out quicker than a normal cymbal. That’s just the way I hear it . Keep on drumming.🥁🪖🤘

I'm surprised that the aax was the thinnest! The evolution was my favorite

Use 10" Wuhan Splash (early gen) as PRIMARY CRASH for home set that you'd have to pry from my cold, dead hands!

How come most of them sounds like crash cymbals.

IMO, a 12 inch splash is a far better option than a 8 or 10. The 12 has a much stronger voice and can cut through the mix better. What I don’t understand, is why you didn’t label the various cymbals that you were demonstrating, how are we to know what they are?

Thank you for this comparison! Is the Wuhan (#5) the WUSP12?

Thanks for the comparison!. So you own 12 12in splashes?. Well alright, it helps me out.
I'm looking at a used one of what would be number 11 on your lineup, so an A Zildjian 12" Extra Thin Splash. What do you think about number your #11?. How would you describe/rate it amongst the rest?

It’s sounds funny but I think 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 sound the best
