I think they might have this redesign for Mario related stuff, but as far as DK Country they’ll probably keep the old design

I wouldn't mind the redesign. While the Rare design is iconic, I think the one thing holding it back is his brows. He just looks constantly annoyed or looks like he's about to rip me in half like the gorilla he is if I dare to look at him the wrong way. The newer design looks like a hybrid between his classic arcade design and his Rare design and brings the better parts of each while leaving behind some of their flaws.

i feel like they're gonna pull a king boo. in his main stuff, he'll have his dkc appearance, but in the games where he's with mario and crew, he'll have the switch 2 design.

I think this is just a unique art style that is only for THIS game. To make the game a little unique.

The point about them "having the chance to change it" for the park doesn't make sense. The parks have their planning locked in years before they actually launch, so they're based on outdated media. Super Nintendo World was based on Super Mario 3D World, a 2013 game, and the park opened in 2021, years after Odyssey was already out.

I’m pretty sure the new DK is based on his design from Gameboy Donkey Kong. I heard somewhere that it was Miyamoto’s idea to redesign him slightly in the movie, so maybe the Mario series is going to use this new design, and the DK series is going to use the original Rare design

The weird part to me is that it’s not even really a new design. It’s actually closer to his original design than the one we’ve had for the past 2 decades. Don’t get me wrong, I love the donkey Kong we’ve had. But the “new design” actually feels far more retro to me than it feels new and original. But personally I love it so maybe I’m biased.
