China accuses Canada of 'hypocrisy' and 'double standards' on human rights

China has condemned Canada and its global partners, accusing them of “hypocrisy” and “double standards” on human rights. The statement comes after the U.S., the U.K. and the EU criticized China's detention of two Canadian citizens in apparent retaliation for the arrest of a Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou.

Since Canada is such a law abiding US citizen, Canada should apply the same logic and arrest their own Sherritt International company executives for violating US sanctions on Cuba for mining cobalt in Cuba and selling it to Panasonic. Why isn't there an arrest warrant out for Canadian company executives? Even Michael Spavor also violated US sanctions by secretly doing business with N Korea. So why the double standards?

Just watched it again. Sounds like a double standard to me. UK EU are pretty much an extension of US. Since Canada did US's bidding, I never expect UK and EU would say something else otherwise.
It's Canada need to stand up and do the right thing for its citizen. Release Meng and amend with China and stop being played by US.

I personally believe that the Chinese women is innocent and the arresting of her was politically motivated; The two Canadian are likely guilty of unlawful activities, though tolerated by the chinese government for the sake of maintaining a good relationship with Canada, but the detention or the timing of the detention was politically triggered.

The US didn't want Canada getting a free trade agreement with China. Canada said that regardless of the new NAFTA agreement restrictions, it would pursue free trade with China. Now look what happend. US wins again.

For this particular incident the arrest of Huawei CFO, and daughter of CEO does anyone believe it is anything less than politically motivated. Likely Canadian president had a backdoor deal with Trump which backfired on him ostentatiously.
