Data center networking is poised to make the leap to 224G per lane connectivity, opening the path for super high-speed interfaces at 1.6 Tbps and up. How are the challenges or latency power, temperature, and cost being addressed? What is the path to market?

Vijay Janapaty, who oversees all of Broadcom’s physical layer products and business including DSP, Ethernet PHYs, MACs and automotive MCUs at Broadcom, gives an update on the next-generation of digital signal processors (DSPs) for optical modules.:

- The industry is transitioning from 800G to 1.6T optics, with 200 Gig per lane as the foundation
- Integration of advanced equalization capabilities and drivers/TIAs in DSPs reduces power consumption and cost
- Broadcom's flexible DSP solutions enable various configurations, including fully retimed or half-retimed LPO, to meet diverse customer needs
