Hi everyone, at 0:55 for the skirt panel 1 I say that the width of your rectangle should be your (waist measurement x 2) divided by 2, but it should just be your waist measurement! Sorry for the confusion! 😅 x

I was just speaking to my mom like a couple of hours ago how she wanted a tiered midi skirt, and then you dropped this tutorial!!! Thank you so much, I'm totally making her that skirt as soon as I get the perfect Simple projects like this are also good for intermediate and advanced sewists, something simple but rewarding is great to get your 'groove' back after a very labor intensive project or if you're stuck in a rut. Once again, thank you so much!!!

It would be cool to see your whole wardrobe, like how much is self made and what basic clothing pieces are essential for your wardrobe? Your t-shirt and turtleneck looks super cute too!

The tiered skirt reminds me of the seventies. We all wore them with peasant tops and sandals and usually wore a bandana in our hair. Yours turned out so cute and with the blouse, it’s just perfect!! The dress is super cute as well!!! Fun to watch!!!

Janelle, you have such a beautiful sing-song voice. Thank you for showing us how to make this skirt!

Thanks for sharing your tips! Maybe it’s worth mentioning that your tip for the top in woven fabric doesn’t work for bigger busts, you will have to use a jersey fabric in that case. But the idea of tracing garments that you already have is awsome! I do it a lot 😊 I usually do it on a piece of paper so I get a pattern that I can use over and over again. By the way, I love your little tune that plays in the background, so unusual and relaxing 😊

I am actually a female not male as the name suggests. I used to work in a fashion house in Sydney in the 70's. We made these tiered skirts. I just used to call them gypsy skirts then. I worked in the design section and worked with some great designers. I just cut out the patterns and graded them, sometimes I was allowed to make some of the patterns. It is such a shame that young people now do not have this opportunity as these factories shut down many years ago as in Australia we made all our clothes, nothing imported. Great tutorial.

My favorite skirt at your age was this skirt. Each tier was a different fabric, calicos and plaids, in brown and blue.

I used your original shirred puff sleeve dress video to make my own and wore it to a wedding last night. Everyone was so impressed and it was so fun (and so comfy)!

I remembered my mum used to make these for us as little girls. Gonna try because I absolutely love them.

I use my overlocker for gathering stitches, it both sews and gather at the same time! Gets really even! It is just a few easy machine settings.
