Sublimation of iodine demonstration

So, I thought sublimation was solid going straight to gas. But the iodine is a liquid, right? I'm missing something here.

Very pretty. They look much more interesting than the crystals formed when water sublimates. And I don't have to scrape these off my car's windshield!

I wonder if one could do this with bromine at lower temperatures?
