I am a huge Kubrick fan and The Shining is my favorite film of his. Not only does the movie look amazing but the video quality of the 4k Blu-ray is one of the top 25 of all time. I hope you enjoy the Horror as much as I do.

A novelist - Jack Torrance takes a job interview as winter caretaker of the isolated, old, huge and beautiful Overlook Hotel. Jack brings his wife - Wendy and his son Danny. It happens that Danny, has a mysterious power known as "The Shining". Danny meets Hallorann - the hotel cook in their first day arriving at the Overlook, who warns him about the hotel and the sinister Room 237. As the days go by, Danny has visions, meanwhile Jack starts driving into insanity, turning more and more aggressive, at the point that Danny and Wendy gets convinced that Jack might try to do something bad.

As Jack Loses His Breath He Suffers Severe Hypothermia And Freezes Due To The Severe Low Temperatures.

This ending where Danny outsmarts Jack is actually the real world ending to the Road Runner Cartoons Danny was watching at the start. Here Danny does what we usually see Wile-Coyote do to road runner which is lay some tracks for the roadrunner to follow to trap them. Then wait for their arrival.
Thats why Kubrick uses that frozen shot of Jack looking dead (its a WileCoyote cartoon moment like after he hits the ground hard and in a daze (just without the birds flying around his head) -- but the real world version of it. Then also the ending with the picture on the wall is like the real world version of the logo at the end of a Looney Tunes Cartoon 'Thats all folks'. Jack's pose even looks like a typical porky pig pose.

I like to pretend personally that the ending was that Danny and his mom escape the Overlook Hotel and they kept driving away from the hotel as far away as possible and back to civilization.

Maybe Jack was Reincarnated after 1921, and doomed/fated to Return to the Overlook Hotel after the pictured Independence Day party that year.
