The fact the most optimistic child got upset is when you know it’s real. Junior was heartbroken tbh.. it really got me

Seeing Diane sad really hit home. Because she’s so keen and clever it’s tough seeing her so vulnerable and for once not being “one step ahead” of everything.

When Junior got upset like that, I was literally shocked and it hurt more because he's such the optimistic one in the family. And seeing him upset also seemed to make his siblings bothered and hurt too...

That scene literally brought me to tears. Seeing Jr. cry and then Diane running after him just ripped my heart out. This was one of their best episodes.

These episodes were directed by Tracee. She did an amazing job

I'm so glad they had Ruby and Pops to stop Junior from feeling like it was all his fault. So many kids feel like their parents divorce was their fault and that there was something they could do when it isn't true and they tend to carry that guilt with them for most of their childhood until they're old enough to know better. But by then it's deeply rooted. They saved Junior from that heartbreak

The Separation* Arc is the most powerful arc of all the 5 seasons. I cried, this show really hits.

I think the reason them nearly ending their marriage hit so hard for viewers was because Dre and Bow are like America’s mom and dad. They give us faith in everlasting love. And seeing them struggle was hard for all of us to watch. Our hearts were breaking right along with Jr.

Tracy did such a great job directing those 2 or 3 episodes. Them separating and getting back together was very emotional.

That scene where she calls him when her dad dies is so powerful. This arc was by far the best.

2:29 When the Grandparents came together and told them it wasn’t there fault 🥺. This shows the growth and learning from the past.

I like this part. There comes a moment in mariage where doors seemed closed and you can’t breath. You hang in there because of the kids. Then you realized you are hurting them too. Separation doesn’t mean divorce. Work it out individual and then together. I also think the emotions that the kids presented were really good.

These episodes were so dark, sad, and gloomy. You really saw and felt sadness. Everything was just somber.

Am I the only one who feels like their fighting is mostly Dre's fault? Particularly right here. What's wrong with Bow going back to work, especially since Dre was out of the house and they didn't know if they were gonna get back together anytime soon? Somebody's gotta pay the bills and provide for the kids.

omg I remember this storyline. It had me upset and in tears cause it felt like it came out of nowhere. It's one of those storylines that makes you think the show is coming to an end.

True, the whole group of episodes when Dre and Bow went through a separation tore me apart. It actually made me look at my own 25 year marriage and say wait a minute we can do this.

Diane hurt more for me because she always acts I unbothered but she couldn't hold it in no more

Divorces are really awful, we want to be so advanced and focused on individual happiness. We are not a singular one; we are a collective us. I was a 37 year old married, pregnant woman, driving to an appointment and “used to be my girl” by the O’Jays came on the radio and I had a literal breakdown. I had to pull over cause I was hysterical. My dad loved the O’Jays, we didn’t go to church on Sundays we listened to the O’Jays. My parents split up when I was 11. I certainly want people to be free to be happy but their is always a price to pay for individual happiness.
