While in the united states We got politicians lobbying on behalf of oil companies saying wind and solar energy are useless while their homes are covered in solar panels.

As an Expat living in China and seeing the progress it has accomplished is mind blowing. When they make a decision to do something it gets done. Instead of laughing and putting the Chinese down the world should pay attention and begin to learn from them. I see the next big move will be in advanced micro chips, it's already happening. China won't need to get chips from outside the country. Stay tuned

Every Week. Amazing. And not only in China. In Nederland we have now 3 million Houses with China made Rooftop Solar. 18 Gigawatt Solar in Nederland now. That is 18 billion KWh every year with Solar in Nederland.👍👍👍We make a lot of Money with Rooftop Solar in Nederland. 👍👍👍 Thank you China ❤👍

Phenomenal discussion. I am a frequent traveler to China and although I do not have any data, I have seen a significant improvement in the air quality in many of the large cities.

I learned that in addition to generating solar power, the panels also play a part in reforestation and sheep husbandry. China reforested over the decades desert area the size of Germany. This is insane. I don't know how any other countries can compete with China as their energy becomes cheaper and cheaper.

Sometimes I don't understand people saying China is evil when living in China is very easy. There is almost no crime in China's big cities. There are no homeless people. The cleanliness is very convenient. At night you don't have to worry about being robbed. The parks are very good. In big cities, when you walk on the street, you hardly hear the exhaust pipes. Everything is clean, convenient, easy to travel. The high-speed rail network, the subway network are very clean.

Over 70% of the land in Australia are Desert . Australia should try to sell more Lobsters & Wine to China,
and buy the Solar Panels & Storage Batteries from them in return . Install “large scale” Solar Panels in
Desert areas only and generate a lot of cheap electricity so as to enable Australia to become competitive
in other industries . Sheep Farms can be developed under the shades of the Solar Panels as well .

The Chinese is about to reap the greatest reward of their lifetime, cheap close to free energy.

Love how China is open to new technology and fair to say they are leading the world right now. Love how they embrace Tesla too,
They see brilliance and respect it. Wish the whole world would and will follow suit.

Dictatorship is not a correct term to describe China.
Have you seen a dictatorship country which has progressed so much in the last decades. China seems to make so many correct decisions to achieve the progress . Dictatorship system means that the dictator leader would do according to his wishes and often his decisions are not very good resulting in sluggish progress in the country at best.
China’s phenomenal progress and achievements does not fit into this category of dictatorship countries.
Some people described China’s political system as a ‘consultative democracy’ against the ‘electoral democracy’ of the west.

And China has this a huge leg up on R&D, and building & operating UHDC lines. & they'll improve that tech too!

It's not just the cost or time it takes to build power plants it's the fact that you get zero output until they are completely finished. With solar and wind you can get some output from the very first component installed and more as you ramp up. It's a lot easier to get investment when you can demonstrate revenue soon after the project starts and as it's progressing.

I think the biggest difference is renewables could never cause a massive catastrophe some day.

Thanks for putting all this into a video. It is almost unbelievable how much much wind and solar China is installing. (Actually, China is not a 'dictatorship' -- that is a very simplistic way of looking at their political system. China does have a one party system, which means it is not subject to electoral cycles, which means they can and do plan ahead.)

If the only way to save the planet is to install enough solar and wind products, and because only China can efficiently produce them, then the logical conclusion would be that every country should start importing and installing these products, even if they are made in China . Why is this so hard to understand? Isn’t saving the planet everyone’s top priority?

Great for China and indirectly the rest of the world. China uses a model of capitalism that focuses on strategic allocation of capital for the best possible return on capital invested. In the USA we don't care much about efficient and strategic use of capital because we became affluent and lazy. Where we are losing to China in energy and transportation has nothing to do with democracy or communism. It has everything to do with smart strategic investments that produce the highest return, or wasting capital on maintaining status quo.

Thanks for this video.
The life of a coal fired power station is about 60 years. About a dozen years ago the Chinese government promised that the new coal fired power station would be built in such a way that the steam generators could be replaced by nuclear ones when these became available. The less efficient older power stations are probably all closed by now. Coal fired power stations use steam of 550 deg Celsius or more that cannot be provided by water cooled reactors but can use Helium cooled reactors and molten salt reactors. Both are small enough to be built in a factory and transported by rail. The first He cooled reactors started up this year and Det Norske Veritas approved the design of a very large container vessel to sail all year between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans through the Arctic to be powered by a molten salt reactor. We shouldn't be surprised if Chine achieved its decarbonization target promised for 2060 before 2050.
