Amphibious Ferry driving into the Water / Ship for LAND & WATER

The amphibious vehicle "Tatihou II" shuttles visitors to the French island of Tatihou and back. In contrast to an ordinary water ferry, the amphibious craft can drive independently of the water level. Because the tidal range can be more than 7 meters here.

Where were these on D-day? Can you imagine rigging one of these up as a camper/RV/houseboat? I WANT ONE!! bet they don't fit so well on normal roads though...
