I did a run through a week before my second competition at the rink I would be competing at. I fell and ended up bed ridden for days because of a haemotoma. During the warm up on the day of the competition, still sore from my original fall, I almost fell again! I told myself that the worst had already happened and smashed the actual competition.

I don’t have a coach and i fell really stressed out and anxious when i try it on ice…
I’m only depending on you Michelle and other coaches on the internet 💕
Sometimes i feel embarrassed when i try something new!
Whenever I’m on my way to the rink i feel so stressed out that my stomach hurts and kinda wanna vomit 😂
Oh BOI I’m in a serious problem 😂💔

THANK YOU MICHELLE FOR HELPING ME & I’m very inspired 🌸

What helps me in any competition in general is while I’m waiting for my turn to put in my earbuds and just listen to Mozart until all the others have finished. It removes me from the competition and allows me to focus on just myself instead of worrying about how I can beat the other performances.

Even though this video is meant for competition, I feel like a lot of these tips are helpful for testing. When I compete or do shows, I’m actually pretty calm about it- in fact, I love competing and doing shows! It’s when testing is the time when my anxiety takes a toll on me (from late day before panic attacks to almost pulling an all nighter once). I’ll definitely try some of these when I test again in several months.

I have my very first competition this summer and I’m extremely nervous. I’m actually going to be competing in basic 4 even though I’m in basic 6. Because I’m still struggling with those elements. So I’m not ready to compete in that level yet. This video was very helpful. I hope I do well.

My first competition is next month and I JUST got my program. I’ve been through three coaches in less than a year, i must have bad luck with coaches lol, but I’m really nervous about messing up. My elements aren’t the best in the program and I don’t know if I can do it. Thank you for this video though! I’ll be sure to do all of them!

A lot of great ideas here. Although I am not in sport psychology anymore I do have a degree human movement performance. One of the best ways to build confidence is practice. Relaxation or calming of nerves is also not fore everyone. Some may need to get amp up. Its individual. Yes visualization is a great suggestion. Mentally practicing your routines. One thing I do not see our figure skaters doing enough is off ice training. As a jumper in track I see a lot of bounding and plyo drills would be great for figure skaters. Training to recover from jumps. The repeating loading and unloading of the muscles.

Thank you so much for this video! My first competition is in three weeks! I am nervous because I just learned my program and have ran it only a couple times. I also have an injured leg, but I am trying to not worry and am trying focus on the positive!

I’m really nervous since I have a ice show audition at the end of this week and my coach put in my hardest jumps to pressure me to practice them more but they still are not consistent😖
