In this powerful piece Jenni Murray interviews 'Bill', a survivor of child sex abuse, at length. Then she interviews Claire Lilley of NSPCC, and there's also an interesting contribution from Dr Jackie Turton of Essex University. Claire Lilley reveals that of the children reporting sexual abuse to the NSPCC 'Childline' helpline, 17% report they're being sexually abused by women. In 60% of those cases, the sexual abuse is being carried out by the children's mothers, and a large majority of the children being sexually abused by mothers are sons.
