As an ex-Lifeguard, IF the lifeguards were operating the slides properly, they will NOT allow the next rider down until the slide is clear of the previous rider. Clearly the “toilet bowl” 😂 Slide was not being properly “lifeguarded”.

Just wanted to share my trauma from when I was 9 years old… The Bahamas has this giant resort called the Atlantis. And they have their own water park, like 3 or 4 different slides (maybe more now) and one of them is an enclosed water slide that you have to sit in an inner tube for and it pops you out into this amazing enclosed glass spot at the end where you float through all kinds of fish and sharks etc. it’s actually really cool… But, it was our last day before heading home and my friends and I wanted to ride it one last time. But because there had been lightning earlier that day, they shut all the slides down and all of the people in line with their tubes, had to leave their tubes and walk back down. The lifeguards started sending all of the tubes down the slide thinning that they would be coming out the other end, just without any people one them. No one checked though to make sure the tubes came out, and they had created a blockage, a clog, of inner tubes and no one knew. We were like one of the first 10 people in line and I went down after my friend and I slammed so hard into this little boy desperately trying to climb UP the slide. He went down hard. Then I hit another person and then I hit the blockage. We were all panicking and the water was rising, slowly, but still rising. I also attempted to climb up the steep extremely slippery slid to get help. I got knocked down by another incoming rider. I broke my nose and had a cut on my forehead. I slid back down, crying and trembling. This adult, grabbed me and my friend and held us up so we wouldn’t go below the water that was rising. I thought we were going to die. I was young and so scared. Finally, they stopped sending people down and realized no one was coming out. Lifeguards started crawling up the exit of the slide to dig out all of the inner tubes. We started to see light (it’s an enclosed, dark slide until you hit the glass ocean part with the sharks) and the water started going down. I will never forget that day. It could have gone so much worse. But, it still gives me night terrors to this day. Not every night, but occasionally I have water slide night terrors and I wake up screaming and crying. Thanks for letting me vent this trauma.

So what waterslide was “shut down after this”?
Did I just miss it somehow?

Or was the title just completely misleading?
Actually i would argue that answer is absolutely “yes” since even if there’s some actual info I’m overlooking, talking about one slide shutting down, that’s definitely not the focus

The video was pretty interesting on its own.
I just kind of resent all the clickbaity titles on YouTube. I’d happily watch this video with an accurate title, like just “crazy water slides” or something descriptive of what it’s gonna really highlight.

I like the one with the lights

The people crowding up on that one slide...I hope they all know each other and agreed with this because it's my biggest fear on water slides that someone's gonna fall straight on my head or that I fall on someone else. I'd be terrified.

Looks like people are being flushed down a giant toilet! OMG!

They are all tested very vigorously, they are built to give you a thrill. Going fast doesn't always mean dangerous. The waterslide with a bunch of people breaking the rules should exist, it's just the people's fault it was dangerous.

For the one where they were staying on the slide and got knocked into the hole, that is the exact reason that most places have someone at the Bottom to Radio the People at the Top when they realize that nobody is coming down or multiple people are coming down at the same time. That way they can quit sending people down until the Problem is resolved.

I once went on a super long covered water slide and thought it was malfunctioning because there was so much water I could barely breathe, it was also pitch black and I got skin burns from the plastic. Others who went on it had the same experience. Never again

Not sure if it's the exact same one, but I know that last incredibly steep water slide ride. They had one in northeast USA that was shut down after one person was very seriously injured (I think paralyzed) after falling off to the side and hitting the concrete deck below. I went on it once before it was shut down. It was terrifying. A bit too terrifying to be truly fun in fact. Very tall slide, like 4-5 stories, slide went vertical, practically inverted, so you lose contact and are essentially free falling for most of it. On top of this, the walls of the slide were disconcertingly shallow little things...just adding to the terror. You practically had to go through a quick certification class before you went on it with the operator at the top: Stay arms and legs tightly crossed, DO NOT move at all! DO NOT deviate from this posture, sign this waiver please (kidding on that, but almost) Let the ride take you and there's a much better chance you won't die. This is supposed to be fun?

Being that I'm terribly afraid of heights, most of these are a hard NOPE, I would gladly ride that psychedelic lights slide in Japan for hours! That long green slide in Switzerland looks awesome too!

I managed to break my spine in the exit region, where the water is supposed to decelerate you. That happened in a German waterpark and given that safety is some kind of fetish over here, I can honestly say: never again. It has been no steep slide, not super fast or in any way special. I am of average size and weight and though I managed to get thrown against the side wall of this exit region. The doctors in the hospital I was flown into, said that spine injuries due to these slides are not too uncommon. Good luck to everyone.

Never seen a ride that flushes people like a toilet. Really like the ride with the lights in the tunnel. The ultimate experience.

1:32 I’ve been in this ride before! It’s called double dare, you can find it in most sunsplashes. It’s terrifying to me, because if the trap door malfunctions.. well your screwed. On the other hand, my brother, cousins, etc have all gone on it multiple times and love it

Make sure you ALWAYS keep your hands inside the water slide!!! People get their hands cut off when the hand goes around the edge and accidentally hits something on the outside surface of the water slide.

I've actually been on the slide at 8:07, it's at Dollywood Splash Country in Tennessee, and it is on a giant wooden tower next to the wave pool. And yes, going down it is just as terrifying as in the video.

When the people are going on the slide while others are still on, it’s not there fault it’s the life guards fault, they should be watching and telling them when to go.
