The art in this episode was extra charming. I especially loved the Gungeoneers characters in this style.

This reminds me of when I was a kid, my dad bought DOOM and a joystick, he would control the movement and shooting with it while my brother was in charge of opening doors and I was in charge of changing weapons. Its that experience that got me into FPS.

Dude.

You can play Brothers ... with your brother.

You know what? Here's a freebie:

Imagine a game where you and your friends play as sentai heroes (aka Power Rangers or Voltron) working together to pilot a mech.

You could play it in single player mode and map all the core functions to the primary controller, but you could also customize it so that additional weapon systems and super moves can be pulled off by coordinated team efforts!

It's basically a gestalt fighting game!

The artwork in this episode was greeeaaaat. Dan Prime looked so cute and the details of the drawings were on point. Not to forget the jokey imagery of sitting the industry and EC boxes. That sort of humor is what makes this YouTube content instead of a podcast that's posted on YouTube.

On PC, you can just connect two keyboards :D

and watch as the two players press A & D at the same time

I thought that the first Super Mario Galaxy had a brilliant little co-pilot mode that was largely overlooked. Basically, during a level, anyone can pick up a second Wiimote and use it as a gun, shooting stars at enemies. On some of the later/harder levels, it can actually be a BIG help, while at the same time, it's very difficult for "Player 2" to actually screw anything up for P1. It's a near-perfect way for little siblings or non-gaming SOs to participate meaningfully.

This is actually an elegant solution to something I noticed when I let someone I know play one of my (many) single player first person perspective games: Camera control.
I can set the camera controls to them and be in control of the movement and shooting, or basically turn the game into a dynamic on-rails shooter for my friend.
People with little gaming experience have so much difficulty with camera controls, I can see this as being an a nice addition.
Too bad it's on the Xbone and not the PS4...

When she was 10, my little sister broke her wrist. She loved playing Mario, but couldn't work the controller with a cast on her arm. Having her play with the D-pad while I held B and jumped made for some of the most fun, most frustrating plays. I'm really glad to see something like that become available to more people without the need to shatter their bones.

Also, the visual gags in this episode gave me a stitch in my side. Gem may be my new favorite guest artist.

This..actually makes me really excited. My boyfriend is disabled and doesn't really get to play games a lot because of it, and I've always wanted to share games I love with him, except I'm super into several games that are purely single-player, like Skyrim. I would really like to experiment with this and playing with him.

That's gotta be the best Crunchyroll ad I've ever seen.

Thank you so much for this episode. You gave me the idea how to share games with my disabled son using the adaptive contoller. Its brought joy to his life when so many activities are out of reach for him.

The two players controlling one thing reminds me of a similar setting in Mario Kart Double Dash. In that game, you had two characters to a kart, and each player controlled a character, one driving and one throwing items. The interesting part of this is when you consider that a core part of the game is those positions swapping constantly, whether through a manual Z button press or automatically when an item is used and the other player has a backup. And doing it with 4 groups of two over LAN was insane
