That “my god” from Amanda is so powerful. She thought this whole time her mom was focused on work and not on her and felt abandoned after Ellen’s disappearance. Hearing this message- hearing how her mom went through practically the same traumatic experience she did… all those feelings of anger and resentment gave way to sorrow and to realization.

1:13 When Ripley says “don’t worry about me, I’ll see you very soon” you can hear Sigourney’s voice begin to break from sadness. She knows that Ellen will never be reunited with her daughter of course, but to think that her character knows it too in the back of her head— that she’s trying to push the thought away with her words, it’s just heartbreaking.

Truly one of the greatest moments in the Alien saga and another fantastic delivery by Sigourney Weaver.

The most emotional scene and dialogue ever in the entire Alien saga.

I love the fact that E. Ripley reached out to her daughter. I hate she didn't get to see her before A. Ripley died.

sad thing is in the extended cut of Aliens Ellen lost Amanda to old age and never got to see her back on earth. 😭

When I played Alien Isolation, i was expecting scares and dread. Not my heartstrings being pulled.

God this hurts even more when you remember the directors cut of Aliens

I remember impatiently waiting through all of the game up until this point, desperately hoping that each new terminal would contain the message, and we'd get to finally hear it. And I remember exactly what it felt like to *finally* reach this part and just be utterly emotionally devastated by it. I found that all of the waiting leading up to find this message actually added a distinct element of importance, relief in a cathartically sad type of way, plus.... also something deeper.. an emotional impact that I don't quite have the words for. It was honestly a moment for me just to watch this cutscene. I think that if someone were to watch this clip, who knew nothing about the game, the message would perhaps sounds sweet, but I imagine not much more. But in the context of the game (and the overall Alien Universe), after playing as Amanda, after going through so much struggle to get here, I imagine it really hits you so differently, and so much harder. All I can say is what a great game and plotline, for real.

One of the best video games based on movie.

I'm really happy they got the people from the film. Sigourney Weaver, Yaphet Kotto, and Tom Skerrit who played Ripley, Parker, and Dallas respectively to do voice work for the game.

It sounds like a message recorded under duress. Like she referrs to her daughter in Aliens (as Amy), but she says Amanda in full (like it was per-emtive.) And alot of explaining that she had to destroy the ship seems to me like she was asked under duress. Could possibly be a distress call under the gun of some WY henchmen.
