Sim Update 15 for Microsoft Flight Simulator has been delayed yet again. With that in mind, here's a look at what is coming to MSFS over the year. This includes many updates, as well as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

There are two choices: 1) get it Now, an SU that breaks things, and then beg for hotfixes or 2) wait until it's well tested and proven working, especially since it's the last this year. For anyone with even moderate level of intelligence, the choice should be obvious. I'm glad MS/Asobo are not repeating the mistakes of the past.

I get that people are disappointed that SU15 is delayed but surely it is better that it works on release rather than release an update which causes more problems than it solves?

Yes, I'll be getting MSFS 2024. But not until I've seen how it performs. No pre-ordering and no buying on release date.

ASOBO biting off more than they can chew

Basically I bought into a ""Premium Deluxe" edition of a yet unfinished sim. They didn't even finish implementation of DX12. I guess they need more $$$ hence this new version instead of just finishing and supporting the current one.

My MFS 2020 experiences were some of my most amazing gaming experiences ever. Haven't played for a while, since hearing about MFS 2024 coming out. I'll definitely get it!
I remember flying and exploring around Mt. St. Helens, a dormant volcano in WA state. I was blown away by the realism! I was flying the A-5, an amphibious aircraft, and I landed it on a small lake near the volcano.

Has anyone else noticed that at 4:59-5:00 the main rotor blades are turning correctly but the tail rotor is turning opposite to what it should be turning.

For FS2024, think FS2004 i.e. that was an uptick on FS2002 but you wouldn't think for a second it was a new sim. It's an understandable $$ move by Microsoft to not keep upgrading the game for free.

It all comes down to VR performance of MS FS2024. If new engine is as good as Asobo is promising, I'm gonna get it in a heartbeat as I love MS FS2020, but can't get locked stable 60FPS in VR using G2/4070TI Super. We'll see what happens, but I'm keeping my🤞crossed as MSFS 2020 is just jawdropping so there is no reason why 2024 with entirely new game engine wouldn't be even better.

Why are gamers complaining all the time? Asobo gave you what noone has given you before, the whole world to fly in. Sure there are bugs and will be in 2024 too, but c'mon people. I've flown over Iceland yesterday, over Mont blanc the day before and over Istanbul on monday. Isn't that just amazing?

The promises we had with 2020 and the adverts did not come to fruition, the lack of different aircraft etc. The fact, a lot of people upgraded their PCs and still had issues, the delays with updates and glitches does not bode well for a stand alone 2024 simulator. I will wait a long time before even thinking about a new SIM, remember Microsoft abandoned FSX not long after its launch.

MSFS24 is a completely standalone simulator. I don't know why there is any confusion here. FS as had a new version almost every 2 years since at least FS5.1, and it more apparent when they started using the year of release like FS95, FS98, FS2000, FS 2002, and FS2004, so MSFS24 is not only perfectly inline with the past release schedule it is welcome because all the past versions incorporated all the patches and updates from the previous versions, and MSFS24 will be no different, it will have all the updates and patches for MSFS20 incorporated into it, as well as new stuff that couldn't be easily added to MSFS20.

FS2020 has enough problems and missing content, it's a bad taste when they release the new FS this year.

I will be getting 2024. MS and Asobo have made it clear the engine of 2020 has gone as far as it can go, and I'm looking forward to the better capabilities of 2024. Particually in terms of the weather and the terrain.

I'm also very much looking forward to the new career stuff as well. I'm very much a helo fan, and one of my all time fav helo games was Search and Rescue 4. Noone has done a helicopter rescue sim since. It's a genre that's pretty much been ignored. Some games have touched on it, but never in the depth S&R4 did, and I'm understanding 2024 will have a helo rescue career line in it. Can't wait!!

My only hope for 2024 is that the aircraft library I've acquired in 2020 will be transferable.

But yeah, I'm solidly down for purchasing 2024. I suspect it'll have bugs and incomplete features at launch, what game doesn't. But when 2024 was first announced, they went through the outstanding feature list for 2020, and a lot of it was being moved to 2024. It's the next evolution of the sim as far as I'm concerned.
