Tampa city leaders prepare for residential growth

Do you think things in Tampa are feeling a little crowded? Well, the City of Tampa is expecting to see somewhere around a 20% increase in households in the city over the next seven years.

Now, city leaders have to figure out how to accommodate that growth without displacing the people who already live here.

At Thursday’s city council meeting, councilmembers got an update on one of the biggest issues in the city. Housing.

We need more public transportation or something. Making more highway lanes isn't gonna solve our traffic problem.

At minimum 2 people kill themselves daily in Tampa because they suck at driving. It's insane. There's constantly backed up traffic on 275 or the Vet because Californians, New Yorkers, etc don't mesh with Floridian driving. Impatience and ignorance of traffic laws is killing Americans on mass.

The only thing I want imported to Florida from New York is pizza, comic, and an actual public transportation system. Some trains would do Tampa well. Saint Petersburg's Sun Runner is pretty primo. But most of Tampa's transportation authority cares about roads...

20% increase? You gotta be kidding me. With the way housing and traffic is going, people need to stop moving here. Thanks a lot Tom Brady.
