How Did Afghans Hang Onto A USAF C-17 Leaving Kabul?

What people don't understand is how uneducated the Afghans were. They actually thought clinging would have worked. None of them thought about air resistance, air pressure, freezing temp at high altitude, thin air, and of course the panels retracting. They ride trucks and trains like this. They thought it would work on planes as well. There was a guy taking a selfie video with some of the men waving as if they were confident it was gonna work.

Family member is part of a C-17 crew and was on one of those flights said when they landed did an inspection there were arms and legs chopped up in the gear had to clean it all out put body parts in body bags. Didn't go into much more detail as there were other family members around that didn't want to continue to talk about it.

Even if they were to find a place to cling onto the aircraft, they were still at certain death as they would have more than likely froze to death

A boy during ww2 climbed in the landing gear of a bomber because he always saw the planes come and leave with gear down ! He lived barely as the gear closed if folds into the engine compartment his back was burned badly by the exhaust pipe while his body was freezing they found him when they landed stuck in the compartment ! True story look it up very sad but interesting

I just can't grasp what any of them thought would happen once the gear was brought up... Yes, they were desperate, and willing to risk everything. Even hanging on to an aircraft for the duration of it's flight. But I just. don't. get. what they thought they'd be hanging on to?...

It amazes me that these people would rather risk their lives on the outside of a plane instead of fighting for their country. It's not like we were there offering training and support for 20 years....

These poor people were too ignorant of the operation and physics of an airplane to understand what they were doing would result in their death as well as being too ignorant in trusting that the U.S. would keep its word about getting them out of the country for lending aid to America.

Fun fact: The C17 involved had to make an emergency landing (Kuwait I think?) because they couldn't get the landing gear to stow properly. After landing, a bunch of crushed stowaways were found dead and smashed up in the wheel wheels.

While this is informative the real issue to me is I can imagine the fear that those people were feeling that they would risk certain death. Sad.

is it possible to run near the working engines, and what was the speed of the plane at the main footage with guy laughing and waiving both hands, also the front wheel well seamed to be carrying at least 3-5 folks hanging on it, is it possible to stick to the front wheel

Well that one guy got stuck in the one door and got smashed into stretch Armstrong by the wind blowing him up against the fuselage 😬

Im confused how only 2 fell and died when there was 20 on the arch so why didn't they all fall as a group. shame the guys on the arch didnt bother filming the actual takeoff.
