Janis Joplin sings SUMMERTIME in an almost unusual version. She is like a Broadway show singer.... Jay Colbe Woodstock attendee or the King of Woodstock, whichever works, shot the Woodstock part. This version is Phenomenal
LIVE IN 1966 at the Matrix in San Francisco backed by BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY. Video is of Janis with her former lover & close friend Peggy Caserta. Sexuality can be complex, my grandma has 3 kids from 3 different dad's but has had many girlfriends, and in fact i was raised by my Nana and her lover Olivia, my papa. My grandma met Janis before she hit it big at a gay hangout in Los Angeles "CIRCUS DISCO", and was close to a girl that was good friends with a fling girl of Janis', and we know that Janis wanted a man. So what I'm conveying, is for the most interesting types of people it's not so cookie cutter as this or that, many people have sex, but are not gay, and Peggy will be the first to tell you that Janis was not gay, if anyone was gay it was Peggy, says Peggy Caserta.
When Janis had Peggy lifted by helicopter into the festival, most people didn't believe Peggy when she told them, until I randomly sent her the video, I thought she had seen it, but she hadn't. She last saw Janis beside her in person, that's it, and so it turned out to be the most validating moment for me. Peggy told me she had cried, and that I vindicated her truth, which in turn made me cry when I got off the phone, imagine? She sent it to everyone who had doubted her.
