One of my favorites to have around. If water is your preferred method, adding liquid plant food can help increase longevity.

I've grown green onions both ways, and let me tell you, the ones grown in water are VERY fragile. One touch and they bend over completely

I have 10 year old green onions I started from the roots i cut off when cooking. They are 3 feet tall and blossom every year creating new onions. Theyve survived ice storms, snow, crazy heat and neglect. Theyre awesome!

I planted a large pot of them about a year ago.... I neglected to water for about 3 months and that shit was still alive. (Dealing with hurricane damage and didn't have time to do little things like watering easily replaceable plants.) I highly recommend them for beginners. Not only is it very hard to kill but the stalks can be harvested over and over giving the budding gardener the positive motivation to continue.

I've grown them very well hydroponically out of a fish tank so the fish waste worked as nutrients for the plant which helped keep the tank water quality higher for the fish. I wanna try it with mint and basil as well this spring

I planted about three bunches of green onion roots from the ones I had cut and used from my local grocery store about two years ago. They are insanely HUGE now and some have even grown big enough bulbs to use like regular white onions! They have now given me seeds to plant in this year's garden to harvest this summer! I still cut and use the greens from them all the time! Buy once and never have to buy again.

For chickens, just plant your eggs in potting soil and water daily. Put it in full sun to incubate. Before you know it, your chicken tree will hatch. Prune off excess feathers to encourage growth.

This is good info. After im done growing them outdoors, i can grow them inside in the winter. Fresh green onions are so versatile and tasty

I have had the same green onions reseeding themselves from the ones my dad bought from the grocery store more than three years ago. We grow them outside and they’re shockingly hardy!

I have mine in soil. It's been 4 years of draught and floods for them because I often forget, but they're thriving. It's honestly crazy

I love how your green onions are so well-placed symmetrically! 🤔😁👍🏻

I have been growing mine for over 2 years now. If you let some of them flower they will go to seed and you can grow more.

I love this! It reminds me of doing science experiments in school.

This is pretty much the only re-grow hack that actually produces food that is comparable to what was originally purchased at the grocery store, aside from starting the seeds from your food of course.

The green part is almost exclusively used as garnish while the white part is the one you use for cooking and nutrition, so good job multiplying garnish once every month, lol

All my bunches I buy go straight into soil, then I use as I need them, a lot of times I just cut the tops and they just keep growing!
Been doing this for over 20yrs😁

I did this and put them in the garden 3 years ago. They've survived hardest freezes and are going really strong in early February right now. I'm going to do more now.
